      RE: GT-R Owner's Manual

I was talking to a tech at the Nissan stealership (which btw, never buy from them) and he was saying that they've already had someone blow a tranny. :(

That's so stupid. The rest of the car is almost overdesigned, but oops, hey, we forgot to make the transmission strong enough to handle the power coming through it.

If they had put a simple and normal manual transmission, it would probably be industructable. But no, they had to go all fancy-fancy and give it an over complicated pansy tranny.

True. Although other car manufacturers seem to be able to make strong over complicated pansy trannies without a problem. I think Nissan is just cheaping out.

I guess that's why the cars with the stronger/more reliable pansy trannies are more expensive (Porsche/Ferrari)

I forgot to mention that they found it was a poorly made part, not the design of the setup. I still don't know why they decided to make the tranny/diff as a whole unit.

It appears that Nissan is trying to find a "fix" for their transmission blowing when using the launch control.

Few topics have set the Autoblog commenting system on fire more than the Nissan GT-R. And once stories began to surface about Godzilla's gearbox grenading when customers invoked the power of launch control, it was like a Hateraid atom bomb had gone off below the fold. Well folks, strap on your riot gear and grab a stick of C4. Nis
