  • ONE Car...

If you could have one car that you owe your obsession to, what would it be? Like does anyone have a car that they think they should own because it means something to them for what they have become in cars?

For me it's the Panoz Roadster. I had always been into cars and racing when I was little, but one day my dad brought home some posters and brochures (he looked at Danny's car for the insurance company, his wife owned a Miata btw ;) lol) and I was hooked. Ever since Panoz has been like a real close brand to me lol.

i would have to say Volvo s80 V8 AWD
because im Norwegian, a hop away from where volvos are made
    i was raised on them
love them (but not maintenance and parts costs)
my uncle is a volvo mechanic

i would have to say my love for miatas were when i first saw the Mazdaspeed Miata, i love NB style, and when i rode in Eric's

My passion for cars came from the WRC championships of old with the beautiful Evo's taking on the legendary Impreza's. I had also had a massive soft spot for the R34 as a kid. I really liked rally driving and World Super Bikes back when Carl Fogerty dominated it.

i wanted a miata since i was eleven, i saw a nb at a dealer and i got in and i was like "damn its like a space ship for 2" after that it was my favorite car for a while. And back then miatas were expensive as ballz they seemed so unattainable and it wasnt the most practical car, i used to always get miatas in gran turismo lol (cant wait for 5 to com out), i finaly drove a NA when i was like 14 and i thought it was the most amazing fastest car in the world, n den i turned 18 needed sum reliable for college so i ditched the 91 ford anal probe and found me a miata. i gotta say i love the car but sometimes i just want to trade it for something more comfortable not the best dd.
MS2, VVT, 650cc, Spec S3, MMR, 6 speed, 4.30, AEM , ARP, ... one day ill get a real turbo

Here are some pics of me when I was younger lol. I also kind of owe my love for sports car racing to Porsche as well. Le Mans with Steve McQueen was my kid movie of choice. One pic you see me in the Panoz LMP1 at 2001 Petit, that's Danny Panoz to my left. Then some other various pics of different things. Me going crazy seeing a Renault tow rig once lol, me loving Alfa Romeo, etc.

Oh yeah check the hat, these are mostly different events lol.

That's funny. I actually use to HATE Miatas. Thought they were the gayest ugliest faggiest cars EVER. I knew they were quick race cars though. But just couldn't stand them as street cars, in fact it wasn't until I first drove mine and started to look into them that I started to like them lol. I had ridden in a few before and they felt fun. I really got my car because I wanted a car I could take to the track right then and it was a crazy deal with tons of mods already done. So I couldn't pass it up. Then fell in love.

That hat must be glued to your head. lol

Mine is, and always will be the Mazda RX7. I've already owned 3, well 4, but that's another story. I have always liked things that are different and out of the ordinary, and the rotary is just that. It has to be the most misunderstood and underappreciated engine ever designed. My love for the car started in late 1990 or 91, when Mazda unveiled the design for the FD. When Toyota finally answered to the RX7 with the Supra in 1993 (another top favorite of mine) I was in heaven with the amount of modifications, videos, etc. that showed up. Then shortly after, my dad bought an '86 GXL in 1995 that I learned to drive. Not too shabby to be driving a stick at the ripe age of 10. I later made that car the second car I owned.

Anyway, the design of the FD3S is still ahead of it's time, even 17 years later. With the right touches to the body, there is nothing more elegant or attention-stealing. I'd kill for a Spirit R. Maybe someday when I run this place I work at. lol

Since this isn't some kinda fantacy thread....

The first car I remember ever 'wanting' and knowing what it was, was a E30 M3. I can't exactly remember how or why I got that into my head when I was about 14, but it did. My family is far from a car-loving group. My parents did have a Datsun 510 when I was a kid..they bought it new too...I want to say in '79...and had it until 1988. Anyway, something about a white E30 M3 got stuck in my hard before I could drive and has been with me since. But they were kind of expensive even 10 yrs ago, for a 16yr old. I ended up getting into Mazdas somehow or another, but one day I will have that E30 M3.

Way off topic, but I just thought about it after reading Mike's repsonse: "One day I will have that E30 M3." I think this was a Top Gear episode, but he's talking about the Lamborghini Countach, and how he loved them since he was a kid. He finally gets to drive one and do a review on the show, and almost completely hates the car. He said it killed his dream/fantasy of the car, and he wished he had not driven it.

x2. I'd always been a fan of cars, but it wasn't until I watched a WRC marathon on Speed in '99 that I really fell in love. I was driving a '97 Mirage at the time (same body as EVO IV-VI), so that made it even worse! To this day I'd kill to have a legitimate EVO IV-VI. Especially the VI. OMG.

I remember when SCC got their hands on one. It ran a 12s 1/4mi, and a 14s 1/4mi [b]on gravel[/img]. Also, the UK Ralliart version of the EVO VI could do 0-60-0 in 6 seconds. Yeah.

^^ Very nice choice. I have always loved the true EVO VI.

I will have a 993 Turbo by the age of 30.

When I was a kid the racing series of choice was the Camel GT series.
When I saw the early 911s I was never the same. After I bought my 86' 911 I went even further down the slippery slope, much to my wife's chagrin.

The ultimate car for me today is still the 911 and the ultimate 911 is the 73' RSR. This is me at the Porsche museum with that car.
