My 2001 (with BOSE STEREO) NEEDS NEW DOOR SPEAKERS - Help Please

They had been getting worse & are now BAD. Any recommendation of a decent low cost replacement ? What size speaker do I need ? I'm somewhat deaf - so don't need audiophile quality - I was going to look at WALLYWORLD - but heard they are not carrying automotive products anymore ? please help aim me at reasonable replacements. I'm thinking a local body shop can help me with the door panels - Do the speakers screw onto door panels - or Doors sheet metal ??

With the Bose system you have to find speakers that are 1/2 ohm impedance (most speakers are 4 ohm) to work properly with the Bose amplifiers that are in/under the dash. Or you can replace the head unit, bypass the factory Bose amps and run standard off the shelf replacement speakers. The OE Bose speakers are 8" and are mounted to the metal inner door. Popping the plastic door panels off is very easy and only takes a few minutes each, plenty of walkthroughs online to get you there. If you can't find reasonably priced 8" speakers, you can size the speakers down using adapters, 6.5" is the next step down.

Hello Craig, I have a 2003 Miata with the BOSE speakers removed and sitting on the shelf. They sounded fine when I took them out of my car. Not sure what they are worth to you... Make an offer and maybe we can meet. I live on the south side...
