  • Fuel pump relay

I hate to make a thread for this but I can't seem to find the fuel pump relay under the steering column.

I'm wanting to relieve the fuel pressure a bit before pulling the fuel filter off. I read it's best to start the car and pull the fuel pump relay until the car cuts off. One site said to look for a yellow plug while the other said to look for a plug with a fat green wire. I think the yellow plug is only on the NA and the wire with the fat green wire did not cut the fuel when I pulled it.

Has anybody done this on a 99-00 model? Appreciate it!

Well, i'm never one to follow the manual anyway. I just wasn't sure if I wanted a ton of fuel to the face.

Take the fuel cap off - that will relieve some of the pressure.

If you do unplug the fuel relay, though, always remember to plug it back in ;)

What nick said. Also, prepare to get a little wet. oh ya, one thing i do to help me change it, is i use a pair of vise grips to clamp the lines to cut off the flow of fuel. You wont lose much fuel.
