Temporarily Closing Registrations - Dealing with Spam

I've had to temporarily turn off new registrations as the spam problem is ridiculous. I've opened a ticket with vbulletin asking for some more support as this is a cloud hosted service by them now.

There will be a mass deletion of all spam posts soon - again a feature that vbulletin decided to turn off in their wisdom.

Hopefully we'll be back up and running soon. Apologies for the inconvenience.

  • $800,000 Budget, What Would You Race?

If you had a $800,000 racing budget, what would you run in? ONLY racing, every dime, no buying a shop, a house, etc. All of it car and race only, do add in repairs and stuff.

Even though I have no idea how much one is going to run, I'd purchase a Mazda Furai and compete in the ALMS (if they'd allow it to compete that is, but since we're dreaming here, they will). :D

          Sexy as hell:

$800,000 would make like 1/3 of a great WRC car.

Being partial to Pcars I would vote for a 997 GT3Cup and run in IMSA. Throw in a little coaching from someone like David Murray to keep from embarrassing myself:p Something like this might do...

with that kind of money i would buy a race ready miata and several ariel atoms and a lot of track time. i would just take the cars out and learn to drive them and i would put my friends in atoms and let them drive the hell out of them. if you are a private person with that kind of money for racing why not be a good guy and pay for your friends to have a toy to race. might only do time attacks and open track days but without a lot of coaching i know me and most of my friends wouldnt be competitive in any racing series. so i would just have fun with it.

I'd get into SPEED Touring. It's not hard to pick up a goos solid front running car for under 100k, which leaves a reasonable budget for entry fees, parts, wheels, tires, repairs etc.. It's also the kind of car the can be run with a fairly minimal "team", so a large group of people are not needed to run the car per race = less overhead. I also think that SPEEDTouring is competitive enough make it worthwhile.

                      OR

For more of a "fun" factor, i'd get into NASA TT and build an Unlimited RWD class Miata. Could probably build the car for ~$50,000-$60,000.

Koni Challenge yes, Speed definitely not. With 800k you could rent a ride the whole season but running your own car and winning would be difficult.

This isn't really a dreamy thread lol, 800k is a fair amount to get into a pro league.

Porsche Cup would be fun, Ferrari Challenge would be fun for cockiness and bang factor, I would probably run Koni Challenge and an ALMS race.
