  • Megasquirt help this weekend, Lawrenceville

I have been putting a lot of working into getting a MS1, V3 MegaSquirt set up in parallel on a 1997 (yes, with all the OBD-II stuff in the way). The guys over at MiataTurbo.net have been pretty helpful, but I would love to get some one to help me with the final steps. Anyone who saw me trying to set the base timing by myself was probably laughing. I live in Jacksonville, FL and no one else around here seems interested.

My stepfather, John, lives in Atlanta and regularly attends the Thursday night meetings in Gwinnett. I'm driving up from Florida to see if he can help me out a little, but he knows even less about MegaSquirt than I do. We're going to be figuring it out as we go. He called me from the meeting tonight and suggested I put a post on this site. So, would anyone have any time free on Saturday or Sunday (Nov15 and 16)? I can buy you dinner, give you some gas money, etc.

Here's where I am with the MegaSquirt: I have the entire unit built from the kit with every imaginable mod except EBC and KnockSense. However, when I built the parallel harness, I left idle and fan control with the stock ECU. That harness was actually more trouble than building the MegaSquirt. I have installed an LC-1 in a separate bung and a IAT sensor just before the throttle body. Except for the MegaSquirt, the car's engine is completely stock. I started with the MSPNP base map, but had to change several of the sensor settings (MAP, WB02, etc). I drove the car across the parking lot on the MegaSquirt for the first time yesterday. It is idling very rich. By the end of the weekend, I'd like to be comfortable enough with the MegaSquirt to try it on the street. If all fails, though, I'll just switch back to the stock ECU.

    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris Dobbins

Glad to see you made it on the site, I think I spoke to your dad last time I was there. Good luck.

Anyone who has met John knows he's a pretty cool guy.
I haven't gotten anyone saying that they're available I'm heading out from Jacksonville in a few hours. If anyone in Atlanta is free and would be willing to help a couple of guys learn more about Megasquirt, I'd love to hear from you. Since I'll be away from the computer, my cell phone is (904) 887-8543.
      Thanks!

Sorry I'm in no shape to tune a car right now.
