Not that I'll be able to (unfortunately, as I wouldn't mind at all), but what exactly do you mean by 'putting your engine back together'? Assembling a long block from scratch? Have you done all the prep work? (Making sure the bearing oil clearances are correct, polishing the crank to get any bearing material residue off, getting new seals, etc?)

              RE: Anyone Free this weekend!!!

I have ordered all new seals, gaskets, bearings, rods, pistons etc. i'm honing the block tonight it has already been cleaned and prepped. I need help assemblying it. putting pistons in, and just stuff like knowing to polish the crank...I had the head done at dover so it's ready to go. I've got people here, but i'm just worried that they wont know something special for miata's. and it's not their motor they dont really care that much how it turns out. Just really stressing about it going together right...

I'd be glad to help you but I don't know any special tricks about putting the Miata motor together, and my car is broke.

The factory service manual would be a good start.

Wait... you're rebuilding an engine WITHOUT a service manual? So, with no torque specs? No bearing clearance specs? No nothing!? Step away from the tool box and do your homework. This is a recipe for disaster. Maybe not when building it, but definitely later on down the road. Hell, I know my way around a wrench better than most and I'd be lost as hell rebuilding my motor w/o the FSM. It is my first engine, but still...

I have the hayne's manual, but don't see detailed pictures like a couple that the dealer gave me. I'm thinking of going back to mazda and requesting all the engine diagrams.

You ordered what rods, pistons, and bearings? How did you know what bearings to order? Was there prep work required on the rods? Probably was. What piston rings? Was your block prepped for new pistons?
Do you have a manual with torque and clearance specs?
                          etc etc etc

Motors have tolerances about the size of a human hair, and if you **** them up then you wasted all that time and money.

i got eagle rods and the kit i bought comes with pistons bearings and everything else. We honed the block tonight. and the haynes manual give's me the torque specs and plasti-gauage specs.

but this is why i really need help. I was just going to pay to have it done but all of my buddies were like dont let a shop touch your motor we can do it and teach you. and their not worried about anything....then i get on here and find out the smallest thing will **** everything up...i'm so stressed out about this i'm getting sick lol. I just want my car to run like new, and handle a turbo later down the road.
