  • Another run w/interesting cars, 1/3

My buddy Steve Cripps sent this email out today. For those that were on the Polar Bear Run he was driving the silver Mini. I am not clever enough to cut and paste his email, so I will type it in it's entirety. I don't know if I will make the run or not, depends on what the boss has planned. I hope I can be there. Perhaps a few of you will enjoy it. I suspect there will be a few interesting cars there, and some that have frequented the infamous "no picnic baskets" runs. You have been warned. Here goes:

    You're invited!

When: This Saturday, January 3rd leaving Alpharetta at 10 a.m.

Where: Starbucks at the corner of Mansell Road and Alpharetta Highway (GA Route 9)

Who: Anyone with or without a special interest car - German, British, Italian, etc. Please invite friends as well - there's no need to RSVP.

What: This will be leisurely drive to Cleveland and Dahlonega, stopping briefly to view a collection of 19+ vintage Fords, and then we'll split into several groups for a scenic mountain drive.

The route and schedule: Meet for coffee and kicking tires at 9:00 a.m. We'll leave at 10:00a.m., driving up GA 400, then left at Route 369W - Browns Bridge Road, then right on GA 9N to Dawsonville where we'll stop briefly. We'll continue north on GA 9 to Dahlonega arriving about 11:30 parking at or near the corner of Warwick and Waters Street.

At around 1:00 we'll drive for 25 minutes to Mill Creek Trail in Cleveland to view Larry Bailey's Ford collection. From there we'll drive up Blood Mountain, etc. or return home. So please share this invitation with friends; everyone is welcome.

    Happy New Year!

To copy and paste, put your cursor just in front of the first word. Click, and hold, then drag all the way to the last word. Then right click on the selected text and choose copy. Then go to where you want to type it in and right click again, and select paste.

    Ctrl + C also = copy

    Ctrl + V also = paste

I think I'll be busy this Saturday, got a friend I'm trying to meet before he goes back to England.

Well I got permission last night night to go on the run. I think I'll drive the X1/9 this time, it does good in the mountains and it has brakes. The Mini is drum brakes all round and it will scare the hell out of you on a long grade downhill as they fade. I hope some of y'all can make it.

That should be fun. I am not sure if I'll make this one, but keep us informed of how it goes and of any other such events.
