Temporarily Closing Registrations - Dealing with Spam

I've had to temporarily turn off new registrations as the spam problem is ridiculous. I've opened a ticket with vbulletin asking for some more support as this is a cloud hosted service by them now.

There will be a mass deletion of all spam posts soon - again a feature that vbulletin decided to turn off in their wisdom.

Hopefully we'll be back up and running soon. Apologies for the inconvenience.

  • Clutch Problem, looking for Mechanic

I am having a serious problem with the clutch on my miata. It is a Gripforce F1 style stage 3 6 puck. The car is boosted and is probably 190hp at the wheels. All of the sudden last week it wouldn't go into gear. I parked it and then it worked fine for a day. It did it again and now will never go into gear. I though it was the slave but I replaced it (definately needed it) but that didn't do anything. I also bled the master and that wasn't the problem either. When I got down there it looks like the lever that the slave pushes to activate the clutch is completely loose and I think it should be pretty firm. From talking to people on M.net it sounds like the throw out bearing. I bought the car with the clutch already installed and i have never done a clutch before and I don't have time to mess around because it because it just became my DD. So... Does anybody know a shop that can do good clutch work on a miata on the cheap? I think it just needs a new throw out bearing but I'm not positive, if so do you think they would charge me just as much to do that as they would for a new clutch? I would love it if we could do it at the tech day next weekend but I can't even drive the car. I guess I could have it towed there. I would pay somebody to help me with it if anybody thinks they could. Thanks for your help guys.

Clutch work isnt cheap...at any shop...especially one I'd trust.
It does sound like there may be an issue with the TO bearing....although I would double check hydraulics to make sure there is sufficient movement there. If there is any oil inside your slave boot its likely fried...even if it works partially.

I replaced the slave and it works fine now and the hydraulics seem to be working fine now but when I took of the slave the clutch flap that the slave pushes was totally loose like it wasn't connected to anything. I really need it fixed, any suggestions? Thanks

Sounds like trans need to be pulled then for inspection...and go from there.
Some puck type clutches have issues. Theyre not really prefered for street
use anyway with 200-250 whp. Your TO bearing may be shot/disintegrated.
Or the pressure plate could even be whacked.
Without removing the trans you wont be able to tell 100%

That's what I figured, but I don't feel comfortable doing it by myself. Do you know of any shops that could look at it?

Mazcare, RSpeed, or any reputable general import repair shop for that matter should be able to handle a clutch. It wont be cheap no matter where you go.
If it was me I'd take a hard look at the clutch itself. Some Gripforce clutches have a history of eating TO bearings. In fact, I'd likely ditch that in favor of an ACT or equivalent.
