  • Camera Mounts?

Anyone got one that works well? I've got a camcorder sitting right next to me and it only just occurred to me.

    RE: Camera Mounts?

My good old dash-mounted Velcro camera mount put out some of the steadiest, not wind-noisy in car Miata footage I've seen.

Total cost was about $3.50. :P

Obvious problem with that scenario is that I now have no dash...

      LOL

How did you make it? Got any pictures? I might try and replicate it.

Doubt you're going to want to replicate a scrap piece of sheet steel with self-tapping screws drilled directly into the dash...

Yes and I love it. There are no vibrations and it has enough suction to pull a fridge (don't ask me how I know. :D) !

Look into the GoPro Hero camera. About $150. Comes with various mounts from 3M adhesive bases (that take awesome videos from the mouth in the front bumper, trust me), to a suction cup mount. It's in a waterproof casing too. I have it. It's awesome. The only drawback because of it's small size is the memory for it, but not a big deal.

                    RE: Camera Mounts?

For cheesy & cheap I mounted my camera on a regular tripod and zip tied it to the brace between the seatbelt towers, wind noise was an issue but the mount was stable

I've got the GoPro Motorsports Hero3 camera setup. It's tiny, and can be found inexpensively on ebay with a 2gb memory card included for *LESS* (shipped) than most retailers will sell you. The quality of the video is great so long as you leave it in .avi format. Try and convert it and the quality goes to ****.

Also, the sound is not good. Supposedly since the initial release of the camera there have been revisions to the settings for the microphone to enhance this sound...but it hasn't helped - the sound is pretty awful - especially while it's in the casing. I've been in contact with the company about this and they've suggested drilling a small hole near the microphone at the back of the waterproof case to help with this...and removing the glass lens cover to let more sound in.

All in all...if you've got a loud car, don't care to hear clear or loud spoken words, want decent video quality in a small and complete package; 'Gopro'.

Yes that was a lame joke. No, I don't give a ****. lol

I've got a rigid bar across the interior of my car behind the seats. I plan on using a 3m adhesive mount on it. Suction cup mount ROCKS!
