So I have some plans in the works for Ashely in the next year that involves a swap, I can use either the 5 or 6 speed but I don't know which is stronger and I'm kinda of turned off of how everyone describes the 6 speed shift. Power wise it'll be around 350-400 wheel. All insight is great appreciated.

I believe the strongest is the 6 speed in the mazdaspeeds but I may be wrong, shift wise i'll say I prefer the 5 but the 6 really isn't that bad

6 speed usually holds around 350hp, even though torque is the real killer, and the 5 Speeds usually around 275hp.
You might be able to get 300hp on a 5-speed, but it wouldn't last long.

          You'll want the 6-speed. I destroyed a 5-speed with about 270 torque.

I've purchased an AR-5 from a Solstice, the coupled with a custom bell housing, a custom clutch disc, and PPF, will get me to a comfortable 350 ftlbs. But, working for a clutch company helps.

Is there a different trans in the 2.4l Solstice vs. the 2.0l GXP?

I'm pretty sure they both use the same AR5.

Maybe just go for the unibrow engineering approach and use an FC3S T2 transmission and adapter plate? I know Andrew Kidd was still fragging 6sp transmissions at those power levels. 400-500hp rating on those gives you some headroom.

Miata parts for sale/trade - TII Transmission Adapter plate for miata!!! - It's been talked about forever and ever and Here they are, adapter plates to put a TII transmission onto a miata motor. TII transmissions are significantly larger than stock miata boxes and are documented to hold well into the 400-500whp range....

Kidd was working on the T-5 swap last I heard. But no PPF, kinda kills it for me. The AR-5 has been "said" to handle 800 HP. But that's anecdotal. The expense of the trans and provisions for a PPF made the decision for me. We were thinking that a 350z trans would work too. But, PPF, you know.

To be frank it's a FC Turbo II swap, I found some info on how to swap the FC bell housing onto NA and NB transmissions

                        Got some bad news then.
The fc swap is from the NA rotory transmissions with the miata 5 spd only.

The T2 transmission and the 6-spd are both different front each other and different from the 5 spd miata box and not interchangeable.
