What to get??? Currently on 615's love em but they are well beyond their life span. Have had rs-2's on another car liked them better for everyday street rain etc. I am getting a bit tired of replacing tires every year, but don't want to give up the grip. What to do and what to get?

RE: 14 inch Tires
I think the 615s are a better race tire. Driving in the wet shouldn't be a white-knuckle, pray to whatever god you see fit because you're about to die experience on a 'good' street tire. (ok, it's not THAT bad... but it's not good). I've had the hankooks on 2 of my cars, and I love them as a street tire. I've currently got them on my P5. As far as a tire that is that good in the wet, with pretty decent dry grip and comfortable, I think the RS2 is the best STREET tire in its price range.
And while the 615s may last long tread-wear wise, they will become bricks before they run out of tread. So, while you still have thread depth, your grip still goes to crap.

heres how i see it:
615s-
GREAT grip dry.
HORRIBLE in more than damp conditions.
last much much longer, but get hard as they get old.
rs-2s-
GREAT grip in dry.
DECENT wet grip and less likely to hydroplane .
wont last as long, but stay soft throughout life.
overheat VERY easily and will de-laminate, even under autocross conditions. ive seen it happen MANY times, even shaved.DIE WHITE GIRLS

RE: 14 inch Tires
I'm on 615's got 10k out of them so far. I think they may be getting harder at this point but they still grip much better than anything else I've experienced. And I really don't see what the water grip issues are. These things have been very hydroplane resistant and it's not like you aim to drive fast in the wet anyway is it?

Hell, when we went to TGP, he had a pair of hankook slicks and he killed them in no time. Yet, i was running hankook slicks and they did great. You forget that he kills whatever tire he has on the rear....because it's constantly being locked up and dragged around:D

Also: good luck finding the dunflops (in all seriousness, they're an excellent tire) in a 14 ;)
