  • Replacing Back window

I have a plastic window with a 4 inch crack in it. I need to have the window replaced if possible. Anyone know what pricing I should expect, or is it even possible?
Kinda inherited the car from my Grandfather. Its a love hate relationship. lol

You're probably looking at $200-300 roughly, depending on the method used.
A used top assy is another option.

Yeah, I was afraid of that, figured it might end up being cheaper to just buy a new top.

Do not attempt to replce the back window with any thing rigid like thin lexan.dont ask.you will just rip your top all to hell.you may be able to find vynl sheets form a plastics supplierand use an appropriate adhesive.

God damn just for the plastic window??

Bah, wish mine didn't crack now! I got a bit excited and took the top off at a set of traffic lights during the cold and now it's got a nice crack.

Yeah, an oem type replacement window panel is about $165 for a black one, not sure if you can get tan or not. If you have someone install it add labor.

On the other hand I have a nice NB tan top with glass window and rain rail, complete on frame. That would be a better option. :D

It would be but don't those glass windows have issues with the rollbar being in the way when you unzip and put the top down?

I always thought you just unzipped the window and zipped a new one in!

Depends on your roll bar. The OEM tops work with most hard dogs as I recall. The NB top doesnt zip either, just fold and go.

The window panel is riveted/sewn to the rest of the top, and riveted to the rain rail too so its a little more then zip and go for an install. Also, if you remove the top assy for install your original rain rail will likely crack so then you'll need one of those too. (about $130)

Bugger. Fortunately I think the weather may have turned. Really don't want to spend the money on it right now.
