Temporarily Closing Registrations - Dealing with Spam

I've had to temporarily turn off new registrations as the spam problem is ridiculous. I've opened a ticket with vbulletin asking for some more support as this is a cloud hosted service by them now.

There will be a mass deletion of all spam posts soon - again a feature that vbulletin decided to turn off in their wisdom.

Hopefully we'll be back up and running soon. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I remember someone telling me when i finished my motor re-build about advancing my timing to get a little more horsepower. i'm running low compression wiseco pistons. What do i need to do to do this for more power? and do i need to change gas grades. I'm running mid right now.

depends on how far you advance it, and there is an entire thread timign advancement on the 2 or 3rd page of the power mod section.

i saw that, but i didnt know if having low compression pistons would make any difference. i have a timing light, but not sure what to set it or how far to advance the mark?

umm, 14*-18* seems to be the most common range. I've actually done it with out a timing light, i just turn it a decent amount and if it doesnt detonate its good, lol, but yeah, use your timng light, itll help.

when i had my NA, i advanced the timing as far as it would go. iirc, the mark bounced between 19 and 21* lol. it was a fast *** NA too. the timing made a world of difference in high end power and all-over throttle response. i had to run premium gas though, and if i bought it from anywhere but bp and chevron i had to run a bottle of booster to prevent high-rpm pinging. :(

^I can vouch it was a VERY strong running 1.6.

When you do that, you'll want to get your ignition map dyno tuned anyway...

this sounds like a bad idea. on an NA car, you don't see much gains from more than 4 degrees of advanced timing, which requires you to run premium. more timing than that, especially unmeasured timing increases, can be really detremental to the life of your engine.

if you're on boost, for the love of christ, get a megasquirt.

actually in either case get a megasquirt :)

Oh?? Everyone else i've talked to has told me to advance it to about 15-16* and that its a fairly decent gain.
