I'd say about half the throw, almost twice as much effort needed. Fun though, feels like an NSX or something with a really small gearbox.

im considering getting one one day. i like the stock shifter, but it would be really nice to have one that's a lot shorter. i have hit my knuckles a couple of times and knocked my cd player cover face off!

Will the shifter itself actually sit lower on Miata short shifters?

yeah i have pictures of my short shifter in my shift boot thread, its about the exact same height if not a little taller. but yeah, they're kickass. my ex gf couldn't drive my car though cause the gears were too hard to move, she couldn't take it out of third without putting it into fourth. bahahaha.

the KG Works one I recently sold actually moved the pivot ball up about maybe 1/4-1/2 inch from stock, and thats what made it a short shifter, as apposed to one that has just been cut down and re-threaded. The K.G. sat almost at the same height as the stock one, it just changed the mechanical advantage, the way it pivoted.

Will, AKA Acro, has one on his miata, and its nuts. The throw is equal to that of an ap2 s2000.

WildFire(something something numbers) has a KG on his miata, and I believe he'll be at the meet on the 31st, you need to check it out.

Acro HAD a KG one in his car, it now sits in mine. It is funny how quickly I adjusted to it being short and it started to to feel long again, that was until I drove Ben's 6sp and tapped the dash with my hand

I installed the KG Works shifter I bought from LagunaRoadster and I can't decide if I really like it or not. It's short and def. requires some extra force to change gears but I def. like how short the throw is now. The only problems I've noticed is it's hard to put it into first gear from a dead stop. :(

I had a KG short shifter in my 96 and 99 and loved it. Yeah, a real short sifter requires more effort because it changes the fulcrum point, but the mechanical feeling is rewarding. I've been thinking about getting one for my 6spd.
