  • upgraded my car to a 5 speed

As a few of you know or might remember me posting I lost fifth gear in my car awhile back, and i looked around for an NB trans, I then later realized that a NA trans would also work. Craigslist and found one for $100, yes 100, it was worth the risk even if it didn't work right(couldn't really be much worse then what it was). Since I had it apart I put a new clutch in also(duh), I finished it up this evening and took it out for a drive and wow what a difference it made, My car actually drives smoother than when i bought it, the 100 trans is a jewel and works better than the stock one(fifth gear synchro was bad when i bought it) and the new clutch actually has feel to it but I need to bleed it some more. I spread the job out over a few days, i figure i have roughly between 8 and 9 hours in it and i also have no service manual for my car, i just got the torque specs off of m.net and did the rest by ear. Just spreading my joy and if anyone wants help with a clutch/flywheel/trans change i'll gladly help.

thanks, it was fun, but i think hydraulic clutches are dumb, especially in 140 horsepower cars.
