  • Sean’s 93 300zx build....

Let’s start by saying this car belongs to a guy who loved the Miata LFX build and has commissioned my help with this 300Z. The two themes- make it right and a healthy budget.

Car as delivered was tired. At 150k, the brakes are warped, the engine smokes, it’s dog-slow. It’s also covered up in tacky 80’s body kit. The wheels are heavy as boat anchors. Audio is a collection of inferior components as well.

Only redeeming qualities are a recently redone interior and a new canvas top.

I’m doing it all with this car including:

    525hp crate LS3
    Monster stage 3 4L60
    Loj Innovations ultimate kit
    new bodywork
    quality suspension parts
    big brake kit
All over repaint including engine bay
    All new audio system

we’ll replace all rubber seals, trim, exhaust, wheels, bushings...

then, if the budget allows she’ll get a Heartbeat supercharger system (675hp).

    Should be fun!

Ok, so the engine, trans and most everything else are out. Bit of a pita as the car has seen a few Ohio winters so lots of fasteners were rusted. I cleaned up the engine bay and she’s headed to paint tomorrow!

Nice work! Man we are so spoiled in the south; I've worked on a few cars that have seen the north and everything takes longer due to stuck bolts.

                  Progress...

                  car
is in primer. Will be buying a 4L60 to test fit and cut/ weld trans tunnel prior to final paint. Few more holes in the engine bay to fill but in about a month it will go to LOJ for the initial LS3 install, then we’ll pull the engine and paint the engine bay.

suspension and subframe ready for old bushings to be pressed out, then new paint and new poly bushings...

Looks like it fits better than the Nissan engine...

Well.... the example isn’t a 300z but Nissan (or any builder) simply wouldn’t pay to tuck wires and hoses. Not a practical thing and very labor intensive. We are also free from emission rules.
