  • FS: 1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S w/20V swap

Selling for a friend. If you're interested, or know someone that is, please email him at: [email protected]

Anything in the description that's in the 1st person was done by him, not me. But I will definitely vouch for this car, it's awesome, and the owner was extremely meticulous when building the car.
    Basic info:

    1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S.
Mileage: 240K on chassis, 65K on engine
Engine: JDM AE111Blacktop 20-valve with individual throttle bodies
    VIN: Available upon request
    Price: $6,000 Or best offer

    Detailed description:

    Wheels/Tires:
    - Super oldskool Enkei mesh wheels w/original centercaps. 14"x6"
    - Tires are Kuhmo 195/60-14 and have plenty of tread left.

    Suspension (Front):
    - T3 front coilover conversion with 8kg Eibach springs
    - T3 spherical bearing spring hats
    - T3 camber plates
    - KYB AGX 4-way adjustable front struts
    - new balljoints/wheelbearings/races

    Suspension (Rear):
    - TRD 8-way adjustable struts
    - TRD 6kg springs

    Suspension/Drivetrain:
    - pair of Ebay strut tower braces
    - factory LSD in excellent condition that was pulled from a low-mileage wreck. Rear end was removed from car, stripped down, sandblasted and repainted. Gaskets, bearings and 1 axle were replaced.
    - Hard brake lines were also replaced.
    - New brake pads in the front/new pads for the rear (uninstalled).
    - Earl's stainless steel brake and clutch lines
    - Suspension is set to medium stiffness and is pretty comfortable on the street. Excellent set-up for drifing.

    Engine:
AE111 Black Top 20v ITB. Engine has approx. 65,000 miles on it. Timing belt has been replaced. Engine has unique front mounted distributor that uses easy to find and replace Lexus LS400 cap and rotor button. No modification to firewall has been made or is necessary for this set-up. Custom fabricated water-piping runs underneath throttle bodies. Cusco engine and transmission mounts. Circuit Sports oil catch tank. Steel 20v TRD style header (has light surface rust and 1 header bolt is missing). Custom 2.5" cat delete pipe. Stainless steel Buddy Club Spec II racing exhaust w/ silencer. This engine is 100% reliable AND powerful for such small displacement. It starts the first time, every time. It does not smoke or leak any oil. Pulls hard in every gear and has an awesome exhaust note thanks to the ITBs and near straight-pipe exhaust. If you want to be REALLY loud, pull out the silencer (I wouldn't advise this if there is a noise law in your area). The gas tank was removed/cleaned and a new Toyota factory sending unit was installed along w/ a stock replacement fuel pump and filter sock.

    Interior Condition:
Overall condition of interior is good for a 22 year old car. The dash has been replaced and is mostly blemish free except for one small crack that has been covered over with a sticker. The rear seats/belts have been removed but are in nice shape and will be given to the buyer if wanted. Buyer will also receive the trunk carpeting, spare tire cover, hatch cover and an extra set of door panels that came from a JDM Levin. The extra door panels are a perfect match for the interior and are in good condition but need a thorough cleaning. The car has a JVC single CD head unit and 4 good speakers. It can actually be heard over the exhaust. There are a set of AutoGage gauges under the head-unit. The temp. gauge is set-up but the oil pressure is not connected and will require an oil-filter sandwich w/an oil-pressure fitting. The volt meter is wired incorrectly and should be redone. All factory dash gauges work normally.

    Body Condition:
When I purchased this car someone had spray painted it black over the factory black paint. This caused the paint to peel up and there was rust underneath. There was also some rust in the rear quarter panels in the fender lip and in the inside trunk corners. All of the rusty metal was cut out and new metal was welded in w/bodywork performed over the new metal. The entire car was taken apart and stripped down to bare metal. All of the glass was also removed. I used a Version Select body kit w/JDM Toyota bumper brackets, Kouki turn signals and some parts store yellow fog lights. The bodywork of the car is very straigt. There are a few minor imperfections but overall it is good. I painted the car myself and it was the first (and last) time I've painted a car. As a result, the car looks great from about 10' away but up close the paint looks rough and has something like a refrigerator texture in places. There are also small places w/minor surface rust due to where I put the paint on too thin. There are a lot of small chips in the paint on the front bumper due to the nature of fiberglass. The car will need a sanding and respray if you want show quality.

I like these cars...although not into the tupperware.
Funny thing is, in this area people seem to think theyre worth a fortune, yet I have seen premo examples in Cali for 2-3k. I guess I am on the wrong coast for a GTS.
      Interesting ride.

There is definitely some work into the car, and it looks good, but I think the asking price is a tad high, but that's leaves room to haggle too. And a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

          Good luck with the sale!

Correct. I think it's supposed to be 160-170 at the crank in stock form.

The price is a little high, but it is definitely OBO. The owner is motivated to sell it, and he's willing to work something out if someone has a serious offer.

thats cleaaaaaannnnn. the kit may not be everyones taste but i think it accents the car nicely.

and that price is actually pretty fair. market value on these things is amazing right now and with that motor and the apparent quality of the way the car was put together, that seems fair.

man... i guess they are made of gold.... 7k for a car that i could have bought for 1k about 4 years go before "American drifting" raped the knowledgeable price of an 86 or a 240... nice car tho ill stick with the Miata if i got an 86 it would be a daily and that would be a waste to never use that cars mods for other than work and back, and errands.

good luck man for sure! someone will pay more i bet, just gotta find the initial D super fan!

try and cross country sell it (Japan likes left hand drive cars and this is still a rare car for them)

I still remember watching the newr F&F at the preview and we all started joking about the price of the AE86 jumping as soon as it was mentioned in the movie.

nice car... the price does seem high but still reasonable with the drifter tax on it(<-- MT'er will get this).
