I got a bit too ambitious with my summer project plans and don't have the time to build this car. The beginning of a great track car is all here.
Just want my money back - MX5 ATL Price: CAR AND ROLL BAR SOLD!
Car is a 1999 Mx-5 with 175,000 miles.
Engine starts and runs very well
Drives well
A/C & heat work
Has an LSD
The good:
Body is pretty straight
Engine bay you can eat off of
Runs well
Has an LSD
Interior is good for it's age
It's perfect for a track build. Only pay for the parts you need.
The bad:
Needs a top - not usable, frame is fine but original cover is shredded
Needs suspension - Adjustable KYBs in the rear and no-name shocks in the front
Rear bumper has minor damage, possibly repairable
Passenger front fender has a dent
Tires are not recommended for a drive longer than getting it home (and even then I recommend caution)
Engine leaks oil faster than the Mississippi river "leaks" into the gulf of Mexico - needs a rear main seal. Leaks enough to cause the clutch to slip after it's been running for 10 minutes. Drivable but needs to be repaired.
Plan was to gut it, cage it, install race seats, seam weld it, sell off the interior, cruise, A/C, cruise etc. If this car is built well and lightened up it will be good for 1:34/1:35 laps at Atlanta Motorsports Park.
To get to 1:34/1:35s at AMP I was planning to install:
Tien Flex Z - Coil overs
Hard Top
Bolt in cage
Kirky Race Seats
Harnesses
Splitter, Diffuser and spoiler
Remove rear bumper
Possibly cut front fenders for airflow or install side skirts
Sticky tires
Available separately from the car I also have a bolt in cage designed for an NA Miata but also drilled to fit an NB Miata
Also have the better flowing NB2 exhaust header
