thx- my fatherinlaw bought the kids a POScheapa$$ telescope. After wasting too much time trying to get a worthy image on it, I went and got my camera so they could actually see the moon. win. btw- that's from an old Canon t2i which is like a $150-200 camera nowadays.

It's all about the glass, about the glass, not the camera.

I agree to an extent! I've been amazed when using some quality glass on my XSi, but it's even better when using the same glass on my friends 60D!

Thought someone here might appreciate this.

The one thing my camera doesn't do is, sadly, let you charge it while it's turned on. This means if I want to make a time lapse, I'm limited by the battery... which doesn't last so long.

But my iPhone will do time lapses pretty dang well, actually. And you don't have to mess with putting the video together or anything, so it's pretty convenient for little social media stuff.

    In comes this...

Just a little something I cobbled together. Yes, I could have used one of those things that goes on the end of a "selfie stick" but two things... THAT'S NOT AS FUN AS MAKING IT YOURSELF... and they all have these really ****ty ball-heads that I don't trust to keep my phone in the same exact place for a long time without slipping.

It's just a 4" long 1/4" carriage bolt, a 1/4" nut, a 1/4" coupling nut... and then two 90 degree brackets... the vinyl tubing is to keep it from scratching my phone/add some "squeeze".

thanks- the FL panhandle with it's east/west alignment makes it look like you woke up really early to get the shot but if you look all the way to the west/right you can see the very top of a tall tree catching sunlight along with some light out on the point.
