Default Atlanta Region SCCA Autocross Points 1

Points 1 - Sunday, February 18th at Atlanta Motor Speedway!

Until further notice, we will be running on a three-heat format. Each class will be placed into Heat A, B, or C. Attempts will be made to keep the same classes running together throughout the season, but some classes may need to shift to help balance the numbers in the three heats. Which heat runs at what point during the day will rotate throughout the season, so that everyone will have equal time running first, working first, and resting first. Please pay attention to the Heat assignments that are posted at Registration.

The Rookie Class is a new program for drivers looking to develop their skills against other drivers in an indexed class, but without jumping into the deep end of Pro. Our Novice Orientation program offers one of the finest novice programs in the country! If you are participating in autocross for the first time or have very little experience, it is mandatory that you Sign-Up for the Novice Class. Our novice class is limited to 20 participants each event. You will receive information on how to prepare for your first autocross experience after registering and given extra guidance and runs at the event. Payment for those participating in the Novice Orientation class will be collected within 2 days of signing up. Questions? Check out our forum on http://forum.atlantascca.com for more info on our Novice Orientation Program. The Solo 101 thread gives you very pertinent information.

Do you know what classes are in each heat? I didn't see it in registration or forum. Wasn't sure if that's something that's now decided the morning of the event. Classes used to be listed in registration.

    Thanks Andrew!

Cliffs notes: run groups are determined after registration closes now.

    Long version:
They used to be listed when we were able to run a fully split day. Due to attendance the last couple years, we haven't been able to do that anymore (essentially because you need a much bigger work-force to do that). We are planning on getting back to that if our numbers go back up as we expect they will having AMS as a site, but for now, the plan is, as it is with most regions, to be there the whole day. We got kinda spoiled by the split day, it was a very hard change to go back to a more "normal" style event when attendance dropped significantly.

I'm told an announcement will be coming out soon about having an on-site food vendor, which'll be awesome from an operations standpoint, not having to have a ton of people coming and going in the middle of the day.

Already signed up! Will be great to have space this year instead of circling the fishbowl of Lanier.

Yeah, Lanier was better than nothing, but just barely.

    Question:

Can a novice car be co-driven by a non-novice? I haven't been out in years and can't remember if that would make things any trickier.

Yes. It makes it easier if you're in different groups tho, because the novice orientation group is sort of run on its own schedule compared to every other class, to adjust for instructors jumping in and out of different cars, and the extra run that the novice group gets. E-mail the registrar and they'll make sure to juggle that for you. In future events, I imagine you'd be running the rookie challenge, which is done with your regular class. IE, you'd both run the same car at the same time, but 1 of you would have an R with your class.

Bring every piece of wet weather gear you own. That's the only way to guarantee you won't need it

Signed up in STR. This will be the first event I'll be in for about 2 years. I can't wait!

I won't have my coilovers and alignment done on the RF in time, plus I need new tires.

I'll have to catch you guys next time.

I've actually got FM springs, but my tires are to the point that I don't trust them so I'd rather not chance it.

Wheeeee! Can't wait to be on our normal lot at the next event, but even the small lot was a huge improvement over Lanier
