I like my Viofo A119 cam. It is capacitor-based so it's more resistant to the GA summer heat, records in 1440p, and holds about 8 hours of footage with a 64GB memory card. for $90, not bad at all. FYI, does not stay powered up after you turn the car off unless your 12v outlet stays powered up. There is a model available that has a GPS unit built into the mount so it will record speed and whatnot, but the one I am linking does not have that base.

I would recommend buying the "high-endurance" flavor of MicroSD card, they are designed to handle the higher heat and continuous heavy write operation of dash cams.

Also check BlackBoxMyCar.com -- great resource and great vendor.

Need to think about your goals in having a dashcam. Why do you want it? How important is night time image quality? Do you need it just for when you're driving, or do you want it to have a parking mode? Do you need front only or would you want front and rear dual cameras? Think about those questions and you'll be in a better position to buy the right camera the first time out.

I have this little guy in my 2. It's super simple to set up and easy on the wallet.

And there's a Lightning Deal going on for it RIGHT NOW.
