    Default PNP Question

Hey guys, we have a '95 Miata in here that doesn't have a crank angle sensor. It had the trigger wheel, but has never had the sensor as long as the owner has had it.

AFAIK, some late model '95s started getting the crank angle sensor. Since it's redundant anyway, I doubt it matters, but will the GEN 2 PNP unit you sell expect to see that second signal? Will we need to wire one in?

The crank sensor in the 95 (96, 97) is used for misfire detection for OBDII. The CKP and CMP (cam and crank) signals still come from the CAS, and are still in the same position in the wiring harness.

So - long story short - doesn't need it.

Correct - on first gen Miatas, the MSPNP ignores the crank sensor (if it is there at all). We only use it on the NB models.

Thanks guys. That's what I was thinking, so we went ahead and ordered one yesterday. Just wanted to make absolutely sure.

    Forgot to follow up:

Got it late last week. Plopped in, adjusted all the necessary settings, and it fired right up.

Goes to the dyno on the 25!

Interested to know what dyno you're going to.
