I've searched and got tired of reading useless threads that don't apply. Soooo, wondering how difficult it is to change the instrument lighting from red to either blue or white. Maybe it's just cause I'm getting old but the reds in my MSM are almost useless at night unless I stare at them and really focus. That takes a little too much time off watching where the hell I'm going. Hopefully this isn't too involved. Seems like most projects I've taken on lately turn in to a pita.

Any help on why maybe I'm getting nothing out of my new Grom Audio AUX adapter would be a wonderful thing too.

New HU installed

I got my new HU from Crutchfield the other day and finally I got it installed today. I could not get to the speakers yet, I guess they'll get done...

I got my new HU from Crutchfield the other day and finally I got it installed today. I could not get to the speakers yet, I guess they'll get done tomorrow. I've been bragging on Crutchfield and their installation kits and support, but my experience today with that was a *fail*.
The installation kit is made for a number of Mazda models so it has to be modified and made for certain of the parts that come with it to fit the Miata. Anyway, after cutting off a lot of tabs and assembling the klugged up mess, I found that it just would not fit in the opening for the radio. @#%#@!!!^&(*!

The phone support guy seemed to be unable to comprehend my questions (and yes he sounded like a regular caucasian American guy), so that was a big waste of time. I gave up on that crap and decided to make my own modifications to the stock radio mount and tombstone. With a bit of ingenuity, some aluminum pieces, drills, taps and screws, I modified the stock mount to accept the UH in the correct location!

After that, I found that the wiring adapter had 3 wires with no corresponding wires in the HU harness... I suspected they would just be spares and just taped and tucked out of the way, but I called tech support again to make sure. This time the guy was able to tell me that they were indeed spares and not used for my application. He also gave me a refund for the kit that did not work, so all was well in the end.

The HU is a cheap Chinese thing: Dual XML8150 Digital Media Receiver. It does not play CDs but supposedly supports iPhones, and other media players and has bluetooth connectivity. The radio is marginal. I was disappointed with it. However, Pandora plays very well and the Itunes also... Maybe I'll keep it.

I also installed a "textured" center console and tombstone to match just to see how it will look/work. Here are some photos of the mount modification and the installed unit. It actually came out pretty well.

Hey guys and gals, my current miata came with koni yellows and rb springs, and although it looks good, I'm not sure of the milage and the car rides like poop. I've tried tightening them up a bit, tomorrow ill be loosening them and starting from 0, but it literally rides like its on cut sprints. when i hit the brakes, or the gas the front and rear are all over the place. if i sit in my car and move around the whole car shakes. if i push one side it will rock back and forth. I'm not doubting koni's ability to make good springs or rb for that matter, im just trying to come to some sort of conclusion as to whether or not these things are gone. If anyone is in the Lindbergh area and could drive it around and help me with the decision that would be great. really dont want to replace this setup unless i have to. excuses my ignorance for suspension.

I don't mind a stiff ride, I just hate how it nose dives and rocks all over the place.

I had a great time at the Jzilla track day.I wanted to evaluate my car and explore its limits,as it is still pretty new to me.The car was a joy to track. The engine was flawless, even though I over-revved it a couple times:o.The brakes worked great all day, despite heavy use.Shifting,clutch,steering,etc.. all good. The only thing I felt needed improvement was the body lean at a couple areas. The downhill coming out of 12,where you accelerate thru that long sweeping turn all the way to 16,the car seemed to lean quite a bit.It never felt out of control ,but had more body roll than comfortable.I noticed some other cars exhibiting the same 'lean'.I have a lowering springs(RB) and KYB GR2 shocks. The sway bars seem stock, and I think at least the front one needs to be upgraded.Any suggestions? Anybody have one for sale? Are adjustable end links reccomended for a occasional track use car, that also sees some street duty. Thanks for any feedback, and I really enjoyed meeting some of you yesterday.,

This site is wonderful. So many helpful and friendly Miata fanatics. Today I took one of my '99 NBs to LagunaRoadster and had him put a new Robbins Stay Fast fabric convertible top on it. Actually he had a very competent friend, Chris, and his dad assist. Awesome and very quick install. I've done one before and spent two days doing it. These guys know their stuff, are very organized, and deliver a first class install. It only took four hours. Stephen, I will be talking to you about putting the same style top on my 10AE soon. Need to save some Benjamins first. Thanks gentlemen.
