NOW if i fix the current car... im gonna have to fix MORE AND MORE AND MORE... (SO IMMA GO WITH THE LESSER OF 2 EVILS)

I AM GOING TO BE PARTING MY CURRENT MIATA OUT! OR ILL SELL THE WHOLE THING FOR $1000-(not including hood and deck-lid those are sold separate $200-hood $150-Deck lid WILL clear coat them for the buyer.)

Personally, I think you should hang the hood and trunklid up in your bedroom or garage....that would be kickass.

It might be good to start with a clean slate and maybe even something with a few mods (suspension, exhaust etc...). Now that you know what to look for, maybe get a 94-95 1.8 so you start off with the bigger engine, bigger brakes, better chassis bracing, torsen LSD and still be OBDI. Just my opinion.

I don't want to sound like a condesending dick, but if you've got a hold of $7 large, you need to get into a cheap car and save the substantial residual for either college or a house downpayment. Work on things that will help your net worth. A project car will only and always be a money pit.

I'll fourth that. Either make an investment in yourself or hold onto some of it for when something else happens and you need it... something else ALWAYS happens even if it's a year or two down the road.

I'd go for a nice clean NA maybe with a few mods and just enjoy it and rest easy being financially secure for a while.

If I had $7000 dumped in my lap, I would buy the cheapest POS I could find that would run reliably and put the other six grand in the bank. You know how freaking rare it is to get a lump sum like that? Keep your hood and trunk, then just find a beater Miata, keep it how it is, and drive the wheels off.

Nick, I had something very similar happen to. When I lost my license I sold my Mustang, it was paid for, which left me with 12,000. I used part of that to pay my mom back for lawyer etc. I had roughly 7 grand left(it was a REALLY bad ticket lol) then out of nowhere my grandfather gives me 5 grand after i graduated highschool, now I'm up to twelve. One of my buddies has an 2005 srt-4 that i really wanted(red 40k miles, ~300 horsepower) he wrecked it but no bad, and his dad would let him sell it for 11,000. I had enough money but that is also a car that I can't leave well enough alone(like i did my mustang). My mom at the time worked for bank of america, but like downtown in the skyscrapers, and told me to find a car i liked that and would last me. I bought my miata for $6600(99, green repaint w/stripe, 70k miles) and put the rest away. I can honestly say I'm glad i did it because now I know if/when something big happens I'll have my *** covered, and I still ended up with a car that is way fun and wouldn't get me in near as much trouble. money now=twice as much in 10 years, save it. I am trying to find a way to still buy the srt-4 though.

I agree with jack, there is a thread on here about bad wiring and i seriously think half the cars mentioned were 240's, $2200 and then talk him down, yes, but you could get a hell of a miata(or other car) for 6k.

I Have a couple of people offering me $2500 for it. The reason I haven't sold it yet is because I haven't found one of the State inspection days that I can get off work. It's a salvage title from TN that transferred fine when I brought it here... they gave me the tag and title at the DMV. When I reapplied the next year they said I had to turn in the title and get the Georgia State inspection done. I wish the DMV would've figured that out and done things right the first time.
Basically, I just don't want give the hassle of acquiring the salvage title to a friend.
It does need to be sold though...

GA laws are a PITA in this context.
You can (repair)present your own car for inspection with proper docs BUT not a car you buy
from someone else. Those must go through a 'licenced rebuilder'.
TN has always been easy to deal with...at least in my experience.

I suppose one way to deal with this would be use a TN address etc and get it titled there.
Then after that it shouldnt matter....perhaps. I still have a TN address I can use in special circumstances BUT recently I finally gave up my TN drivers license....which I kept for 10+ years after moving out of TN. :lol: Without the TN license its gets more complicated...PLUS some counties there have recently implemented emissions testing. Ugh.

Emissions shouldn't be a problem on it. The car isn't bad. 123k miles, new top, new clutch...
The bodywork and paint just aren't perfect. Not a bad looking car at all though. The A/C quit on me a couple months before I quit driving it.

If a door will bolt on you should be able to patch it enough for transportation. UNLESS
its all jacked up suspension wise and doesnt track straight/right.

So kirt all i need is a scrap door dont care condition just something for them to get the lines rite. How much? Ill try and get it this week along with joes transmission.
