I'll be there. Let us know if you've got any questions or want a rider. We don't technically have the novice orientation for this event, but that doesn't mean we're going to hang you out to dry. BTW, I'll be one of the worker chiefs for this event, but introduce yourself and I'll take you on a course walk if you want.

I'm registered. #96 CSP red '06 MX-5. Find me if you want to go for a ride. I'm not the fastest guy around, but the "Not a Miata" is a lot of fun.

Well we must have caught him at a bad time, he was working on his car at the time and we stopped by to ask a few questions and chat and he was a tad hostile and rude honestly. We all have our bad moments though.

I have been running with BMWcca in atlanta for a couple of years but have yet to run with scca. Where do I start? Do I have to be a member? BMWcca moved runs to Jim R Miller park in cobb co.
IT SUCKS. I only went once. I'm up in gainesville so ams is a bit of a haul for me.

Check out SoloAtlanta.com. When registration for an event opens up there will be a post in the Announcements section. You don't have to be a member, but it costs you an extra $10/event if you're not.
The October event is at Turner Field, and there is a Divisional at Six Flags in November.

Probably just as soon as the timing and scoring folks get back from Valdosta (test & tune for Nationals was today).
Usually they're up within a couple hours, but occasionally it doesn't work out that way ;)

Yeah, I'm not as fast as they've got me on there. My co-driver put down the 43.9xx. My fastest time was a 45.0xx. We have issues changing our numbers properly. It really hurts when I can't improve on my second run.

amaff that's a very nice time. I couldn't seem to break into the 40's, I kept on messing up with one corner, catching me by surprise and then coming in too fast and then experience some chronic understeer when i took on the decreasing sweeper. I would really like a chance to ride along with one of the top timers, just to see how I'm so dramatically different.

I was there in SM2 and broke second gear in my buddies DIYAUTOTUNE.COM Turbo Miata.
I still landed in third place after I jumped in Wayne Van Horhess Turbo Miata.
Thanks to my friend John Swain for the two back to Gwinnett and for letting me drive hsi supercharged Miata home.

Did YOU break it, or did it happen to give up the ghost while you were driving? What was the story with that, I didn't quite get a chance to talk to anyone aboot it.

I don't even know what I'd do if I was driving someone else's car and it just happen to break on me while I was driving. :jawdrop:

Even if it wasn't my fault. I would feel obligated to fix the problem.

Why? It's a race car making a ton of power on very sticky tires. There's a weak link in there somewhere. On my car, I'm just waiting for the diff to grenade. I'm not making a bunch of power, but what are pretty much clutch dump starts to keep the car from bogging are huge shocks to this thing. It's only a matter of time. Hell, at the double cross my car broke while one of my 3 co-drivers was piloting the car around the course. For a race car, it's only natural that you're going beyond what the parts are designed for. Then again, stuff like this should be at least in a verbal agreement before you drive someone else's car in anger. Basically my co-driver policy is that I'm in charge of the equipment. If the equipment breaks, I fix it. However, if you BREAK it (IE: it didn't break on course, it broke because someone did something stupid), you're fixing it. I think that's pretty reasonable.

It's certainly a crap situation to be in! One of these reasons I'm never too fond of letting drive my car or driving other's car.

lol I dunno, I may be the exception rather than the rule, but I love having people drive my car. Maybe it's because I've realized that it's a race car, and if it blows up... well, I'll fix it. And I'll have plenty of help. You can't hold someone accountable for a part failure that would have happened no matter who was driving.
Going off on a tangent here:
I know this really applies mostly to road racing due to the inherent risks of wheel to wheel racing at much higher speeds than we see, however, to a point, it still applies to autocross. A wise man once told me: Never race a car you can't afford to write off at a moment's notice.
Obviously, you probably won't stuff it into the wall because someone nudged you coming down the hill into turn 12 at an autocross, but the fact of the matter is that **** happens. Am I saying don't autocross your daily? Not necessarily, because autocross is a fairly low-impact form of motorsport, however, have a back-up plan to get to work on Monday, because you never know when it'll happen.

I think the 250 whp + TORSEN LSD + R-Comps had a contributing factor to the gear shattering.
I was in gear already, and was back on the gas to come out of a tigh right hand kind when it let go.
Jerry was more then gracious about the situation and understood that when you double the stock HP things break. That is the world of tunning my friends. Of coruse I felt terrible but the situation is resolved.

That's what I figured happened. I'm happy he was cool about everything. But you're right, that's one of the risks we take. It's a miata, the transmission was meant to deal with 100 hp, not 250 lol. He should be glad we run more events on slippery asphalt instead of concrete or it may have let go long ago.

The irony is that I autocrossed a modified Subaru for 6.5 seasons and never broke a thing!

Yeah... there is something very wrong with that. How you managed to have a failure on the miata and not the scooby is beyond me!
