Hey All,

After reluctantly selling my 2001 Honda Shadow ACE two weeks ago, I finally found an extremely nice, clean 1997 Montego Blue Mica Miata in FL. The vehicle has 122k miles and was still owned by the original owners. They took a LOT of pride in ownership of their Miata and were selling only because they were relocating out of the country. I flew down from Atlanta to Tampa on Saturday and drove her back on Saturday evening. It was 508 miles of top down, windows down, radio blaring and no cell phone. I'm happy...and I'm getting over the sale of the bike quite well now! :D

Thanks!

Welcome! Looking good! And yeah...top down with music blasting, just you and the road is always an awesome feeling in a Miata :)

Congrats on the purchase! Beautiful car. I still remember the night I drove my first Miata back from Little Rock, Arkansas (after taking an insanely indirect flight that went from Atlanta to Charlotte to Dallas to Little Rock...guess that's what happens when you book a flight with one day's notice).

Very clean, looks good!

FYI, the "Tag Applied For" cardboard = useless. If a cop is in a bad mood they can give you a ticket.

Most cops won't pull you over, but they can and some will. Ask me how I know. ;)

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the forum! These are great cars! I remember when I first bought my car. It was cold and rainy the night of purchase, so I was unable to drop the top and enjoy. But a few days after the rain let up, I dropped the top!...and then got stuck behind a dump truck filled with the worst smelling garbage ever. It was nice being able to feel free and breathe in the fresh air! But hey, I went from a car with no AC and only one working window to a convertible, it was like a whole new world for me.

Any plans for the car? Or plan on keeping it plain stock?

welcome softpaw62. i had a cbr600 f4i a few years ago, and had to let her go due to back taxes, so i understand what you are coping with. These cars are amazing, and a great substitution. im hoping to go back to a bike next year, but i keep thinking about all of the things i want to do to the miata....its going to be quite the battle over finances.

anywho, car looks amazing man. can we see more pics?

Hey all,

Thanks for the nice welcome to the forum. Right now, my plans are to enjoy the ride for awhile before making any modifications. It's got a K&N filter on it and a JVC CD/Satellite radio unit replaced the stock AM-FM cassette player. The previous owner also installed a US Acoustics amp in the trunk.

As much as I miss the motorcycle, this will be a nice change as my wife just wasn't comfortable on the bike. SHE LOVES DRIVING THIS CAR! Whoops, is that a good or bad thing?

Thanks,
Sothpaw62

scary thought, but I bought my 97 montego blue from the original owner because she was leaving the country...I'm up to 130K tho.

To avoid confusion, I got the leather, roll bar and different wheels.

Enjoy!

That looks really nice. There should be a section for "How and where I bought my Miata"
I bought my from an ad on Miata.net. It was located in Ohio. I flew up on a Saturday morning and was back by 8pm. My wife thought that was the stupidest thing she had ever heard of. She didn't speak to me for a week. That was kinda nice, actually.

Well that can be included in here when someone starts their own "Intro" thread.

Sounds great...my wife and I live on the east side of 400 near Jones Bridge Road and 120. Very close to Jeffrey's.

You?

Not too scary...it's actually a great way to purchase a car. It certainly beats buying a car from someone who is in financial trouble and hasn't taken care of their car.
