I found my old VCR the other day, it has VCRplus+ on it which automatically deleted commercial breaks. That was so awesome back in the day.

Kurt,
Too bad I recently threw out the perfect pair for your modem. It was an IBM PS-2 Model 80 running OS-2. That would have been the perfect combo, cause when I was running it for work it only had a 9.6 modem. a 300% increase in speed!

I wonder how many people here have never heard the wonderful tones of a modem connecting. lol I remember when you had to pick up your phone and put in on the modem, this stuff you've got is so far ahead of its time. lol

My goodness. I remember downloading 3-6mb videos from p2p stuff back in day and having to look over my shoulder for ages making sure no one would see what they were.

Hey, don't trade with them - I can move you up eons in networking tecknology. Yes, available for a limited time only , a real, genuine IBM PCMCIA Token-Ring networking card. Anf cable. And I'll trade straight up, as long as you have all the packaging - I'll need to burn something to stay warm this winter, and circuit boards ain't it...

We were still rockin' the Apple 2e for most word processing tasks when I was in the Marine Corps. Only us NCOs got the high speed Gateway machines with Windows 3.1 on them.

I'm like Stealth -- I had bought the Vic20 because that was all I can afford - my dad hated seeing me struggle with it - less than 3 days later we took it back and came back home with the Commodore 64 complete with external tape drive. I wasted many nights sitting in my dorm room copying number for number computer program source code as printed in various magazines at the time... and then waiting until next month's magazine for the corrections to the mistakes printed the first time. I think that was a consipiracy by the magazine publishers to get people to keep buying more magazines :)

Don't forget *70!!!
From 1990 to about 1994 I used to run an 8 line TBBS Chat system bulletin board in a corner of my bedroom... I shut it down and sold all my gear and modems at the exact right time, before the internet had time to make all of those systems obsolete (for the most part - I know some still exist and are reachable via telnet). Rodney Aloia (The Index System BBS) took me and another board Op out of LaGrange to a convention in Colorado Springs in 1993 and I had never met so many computer geeks in one place before.

So all this got me wanting to hook up my Commodore 64 and see if it still works. I'll be damned if I didn't find it or my Intellivision (too many boxes to go through). I did find our Commodore 128, some boxes of Compute! magazine, a spare disk drive, and a box or two of games:
