If you're looking to run an exotic coil per plug CDI ignition, we've got your coils.

These are a similar internal design to our IGN-1A coils, but the winding specs have been optimized for CDI ignitions. Unlike most CDI inexpensive coils, these have separate primary and secondary grounds so the two sides of the coil are not physically wired together. You can check them out at this link.

Would these work directly with a megasquirt? Or is a separate ignition box required? This looks like a great upgrade for the boosted peoples.

These new coils need a CDI box. The regular IGN-1As work directly with the MS however.

I'd go with IGN-1As, unless you already happen to have a M&W box lying around.

Those IGN-1A's are pretty awesome little coils. I'm running 15psi to as much as 18psi on my red car and it fires it without breaking a sweat. I know of cars running 40psi running these coils and lighting it off nicely.

Do make sure you wire them properly, special emphasis on adequate grounding, one fat one to the head, one fat one to the block, and a small one to the ECU for ground reference so it triggers properly. Wire them right and you'll be very happy with them.

You'll also want about 20amp of fusing for each pair, I'd recommend powering them in pairs and putting a single 20amp fuse inline with each pair. You'll want to fun a fat hot wire to them from somewhere (battery, fusebox, etc). The stock wire will not handle the current these draw in order t provide that killer spark, though you can use the stock hot wire to trigger a relay that provides power to the IGN-1A's.

I originally wired my up with all four on a 30amp fuse and it works most of the time, but occasionally I pop that fuse. I need to pair them and run dual 20's.

Jerry, I put a 40A fuse on your car. I know you've not been driving it too much, but hopefully it will be more stable for you.
