I picked up a pair of Bomz racing seats for $100. They spent less than a year in a friend's RX7, and had been sitting in storage for awhile.

For those of you that have installed racing seats, what did you do as far as getting them bolted in?

My stock drivers seat had a tear in the bolster, and neither seat had the speakers in the head rest (they're just missing).

I've taken the brackets off both sets of seats to see what I could figure out, but I'm worried if I just mount them together it would sit too high.

Bomz doesn't seem to sell/make the brackets, and online, universal ones are upwards to $100 a piece.

with my momo's me and my friend took two metal bars, drilled two holes, mounted them to the seat, then placed the seats in. the only problem is, is that they sway back and forth LOL not too much, but i only am bolted in in the front. I harness up so im not too worried about it.

The racing seats mount about an inch further out than the stock ones.

My best option seems to get two bars that are 2-inches thick, drilling the appropriate holes, bolting the bars to the seat, then the bars to the brackets, then brackets to the to chassis.
I've just got to price shop, 'cause Lowes & Home Depot want around $30 for what I need, and it's not even as thick as I want.

Screw the expensive metal. $30 is WAY to much to spend just to keep you and the seat in the car....

Just get a tube of 2-part epoxy (about $6) and be done with it. Maybe JB Weld. Perhaps a tube of superglue....if you get the off-brand stuff, you can probably get it for $2.99 or less.

on second thought.....

Maybe real metal brackets ARE the way to go......

Maybe.

I'm not trying to cheap out. haha
I just think the metal these stores have in stock is too expensive for the thickness.
I'm going to go a steel place tomorrow to pick something up.

Do it right the first time or don't do it at all. Boy oh boy...

The manufacturer of these seats do not make any kind of bracket. I'd rather sell off the seats than pay $200 for brackets. I picked them up mainly to replace the drivers seat, which has a torn bolster.

Sounds like a better idea to sell them then.

When I installed my race seat, I used the side attaching brackets. Then mounted my the brackets to the stock slider.
