On August 6, 1945 brave American fliers dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima.
In my view those men are heroes. They did their duty as asked by their country.
Some now would have America 'apologize' for such actions.
I find such an idea repugnant. To do so would dishonor all those who sacrificed both life and limb in that struggle.
Japan cowardly attacked the United States without any provocation, all the while pretending to maintain normal relations. That country's military leaders were stubbornly willing to sacrifice every last Japanese life and countless Allied lives in their 'cause'.
That bomb and the subsequent one dropped on Nagasaki on August 9 brought their dictator to a realization that humanity and life itself was far more important then that 'cause'. The bombs dropped, and the lives sacrificed there saved millions of others and possibly even preserved a culture. Japan survives today as a result. We should NEVER apologize for that.
And I abhor any politician who hints otherwise.
