Almost 5am and the last of the team that helped me finish my turbo build just left. A HUGE shout out is in order for Eric (Rotornut), Sean (Wonton), and Ben for lending their time, patience, and know how to get my car up and running.

Also, thanks to everyone else that came out - Mike & Jen, Steve and Laurabeth, etc - for hanging out and having a good time. It was nice to meet everyone...looking forward to our next meet.

This was a great example of people from MX5Atlanta pulling together to help out. It's good to be a part of a cool group of folks here. For all those that turned wrenches tonight, I owe you! Let me know how and when I can return the favor.

Me too! Thank you to Ben for coming out so late!

Moral of this story, always check the small things. And make sure you eat sometime during the day too. :D

I can't wait for your next project Nick. Garage conversion FTW!

So how well did you get it tuned? Are you able to get a decent run through the gears at 12psi yet? :D

I had a ton of fun myself too, glad to meet you Nick! I'm sure I could have been stuck under the hood too, but I need not make the situation "too many cooks in the kitchen" lol

^^ I agree. Usually I'm more then willing to help but it appeared that Eric and Sean had it all under control. :)

Wait nvm, the one in your sig?

Yeah, it's an FMII kit.

Haha! Me with my migraine attempting to help. I recalled that the harness was unplugged, figured I did my last duty for the day, and called it quits. I can tell you we busted some serious *** before the meet to get it that far.

When I talked to Nick on Sunday, he was still messing with it, but still untuned. He was just happy as hell to be boosting 5psi. I do know that he was supposed to datalog and send it to FM to let them make the tuning map pretty.

I had a ton of fun!
And I'm really glad that you guys got it running.
Sorry we had to leave, I had to be home at 2 (Yes, I know.. Don't make fun of me!)

I look forward to the next get together!

I don't even know if you made it home on time that night....Did you?

Of course not!
We left his place at 1:45 so I think I got home around 2:30?
But seriously, when's the last time I was home on time!

I got home at 5am that night... err... morning.

It was about 6am for us... but when we left Nick's car was running "decently" to about 6 psi. It was hugely improved from where we started, but still has work.

Unfortunately the Link's autotune and ego functions (respectively l3 and lambda in link-speak) did not want to work.

i wasn't even the one tuning the car, and it still was giving me a headache!

As luck would have it, I think it was another small thing that kept the car from tuning properly. Looking under the hood the next day, I noticed a vacuum leak on the intake manifold (Eric/Sean - it was the one we ghetto-rigged!). After sealing that properly and saving the ECU settings that Ben dialed in, I tried the default turbo maps and the car ran great.

I drove around and let Lambda auto-tune and the car boosted smoothly (and scarily on 205 Azenis!) to 12psi. I also talked to Keith and Jeremy at FM - they seemed to think that the idle is difficult to tune b/c the wideband doesn't get very accurate readings at idle. Not sure if that is legit, but at the very least I can still use the autotune feature and tune idle manually.

Thanks again to everyone that came out last Saturday night - I don't think I looked at my watch all night, so I couldn't believe that it was 5am!

so just that one little vacuum leak gave us that big headache, wow! glad to know the car is boosting well!

Sweet man! And now we have affirmed why it is stupid to ghetto-rig pieces for turbo installs.

IDK about the WB readings at idle, mine is pretty accurate. But then again, tuning the map for idle is not that bad either.
