Doesnt really idle rough, just every couple minutes at idle it kinda...bumps. RPMs barely drop, but the Car bumps. I can feel it. Any suggestions?

Oh, And when it rains my trunk gets wet on the inside, but the rubber gasket on the trunk is fine, any suggestions on that?

Does it have a trunk rack? The bolts holding it in have nuts in the trunk lid, and they have a rubber casing/seal, sometimes they come lose or fall out, i experienced this.

No idea on the idle thing, sorry man.

On your motor close to the throttle body there is a little hole with a screw in the end of it and it controls that idle dip just play with it until you get it to stop doing that, couple of days with mixed driving and you'll be set. My car was really bad about it when I first bought it.

Last time plugs/wires were replaced??

On the wet trunk, most likely your rain rail is cracked and/or plugged up with crap.
98% of the time wet trunks = rain rail/drain issues

my car did the same things. i never fixed the trunk leak because my other rain rail got bush hogged lol, but the idle problem was a TINY vac leak. it was somewhere near the charcoal can, but i dont remember which line.

And...just be glad you dont drive an POS E30 with effed up wiring and a semi dead battery that requires constant jumping...like some people...*cough*jesseeee*cough*
Things could be much worse!! LOL... :D

A vacuum leak can cause very annoying problems, and on occasion fool a fellow.

I bought a Miata that had a bunch of parts thrown at it, and had been to a shop, all without success...and it fooled me for about 45 minutes too. Ended up finding a small hole
in the intake tract in an obscure previously unnoticed spot.

still better than being the pied piper of all the homo cars in the southeast... ;)

im actually thinking about trading the e30 for the silver car that is on CL and IA. the mileage freaks me out though.

Thats far better then being the lost ghey Jonas brother!! LOL...

I'd trade the E30 beater for almost any Miata....but youre right, that one looks a bit beat....but so did your last one, and it ran and started.
Actually a clean E30 could be a fun car.

it runs and starts fine now. i just swapped the battery from my parts car in and its perfect now. all thats left to do is get my bumper on and figure out why the dash lights dont work. and maybe quiet it down some... lol

I still say keep the E30, cooler cars then Miatas.

And you all don't know **** about wiring problems until you own a 240.

And you all don't know **** about wiring problems until you own an RX7.

Fixed for truth.
I've wired complete harnesses for both cars, the 240 was by far an easier task to complete.

To fully enjoy an automotive electrical system once must own British cars. BTDT! :D

Yeah, I have been fortunate enough to never have to do any major wiring on those. Heard plenty of horror stories though.

True, Range Rover is INSANE.

As for the 240 it was easy to wire, but it had more electrical problems with a house under water.

 Agreed. I think that whoever wired them wired RX7s, 300ZXs, and Supras as well. Retarded wiring. I remember working on a 240 that had one window that would go down while the other would go up. Turns out the damn thing had a faulty locking circuit, but it crossed over.

Try having fun diagnosing why IAC,water temp sensor, MAS, and AIT sensors have 5v running to them from both the signal and ground wire...... oh the fun times.

My brothers passenger window would roll down if you took left hand corners sharp, the HUD would only work if the car was warm, speedo only worked if the lights were on, ine had brake problems, light problems, dash problems, etc. Great motors and chassis, but everything else sucks lol.

I'll check the rain rail. I just replaced the plugs and wires a few months ago. Also, lol, It squeaks when slowing down with a gear or going in reverse its a loud "rolling squeak". Any ideas? I'll try the screw and look for a vaccum leak.

Can you tell where it's coming from, under the car, from one of the wheels?

metalman
12-24-2008, 01:16 PM
Not sure what you mean by 'rolling squeak'...but U joints tend to squeak when going bad.

FlipKing
12-25-2008, 05:06 PM
It slows and speeds up depending on speed of car and only in reverse or slowing down with gear. I cant tell if its from the motor or the front tires.

Its not the wheels, its somewhere in the engine bay. Im thinking loose pulley or tranny mount

check the seals for your tail lights, my truck leaks as well and i notice it was coming from the tail light area! pull the tail lights out and see if those seals need to be replaced!

Ill check em. Gonna try to find the pulley tomorrow. gonna try to find that sqeak, tighten the ebrake, and check seals.

After having a friend listen to the sound, the squeal is coming from the back half of my car. is there a bushing or somthing that can go bad in the rear?
