As gun rights activists await the upcoming decision in the McDonald vs. Chicago (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald_v._Chicago) Supreme Court case, new evidence emerges that, in this post-Heller decision (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/District_of_Columbia_v._Heller) world, the public has soured on the bitter taste of gun control.

The latest evidence of the declining public support for restrictions on gun rights is in the data released today by the Federal Election Commission on the private donations and expenditures (http://herndon1.sdrdc.com/cgi-bin/fecimg/?C00113449) of the Brady Campaign to End Gun Violence - Voter Education PAC (Link goes to actual FEC reports).

So far, for the 2010 election cycle, only one donor has made a single contribution of $2,500.

I really don't think that there is a serious threat of anyone outlawing guns in this country. I've never understood why people get so hung up on it. It won't happen. :dunno:

That article made me lol.......I mean... what kind of retard votes for an elected leader just because their pro-gun? Morons.

Now is the time to work to get that message to the government by redoubling efforts to elect pro-gun candidates and kick out those politicians who would deny us our basic human rights.

"Basic human rights"....ahahahahha now that's funny.

Think you're reading a little too far into it there. They never said vote for a candidate simply because he or she is pro-gun, but many candidates do use gun control as a large part of their campaign.

Self-defense is a basic human right. The difference that they're not specifying in the article is that it's because of the 2nd Amendment we have been given the right to bear arms. The whole article could have been worded better.

I've actually got a good friend who is a hard core democrat

Unless the candidate is for stricter gun control. People are weird about their guns man.

That's a terribly one sided article filled that clearly supports the writer's agenda. I think that general public isn't leaning more towards a complete lack of gun control but away from the issue because of the other issues that are more important in their lives. I'm sorry but owning a machine gun is not a human right. Self defense may be but that doesn't equal guns that can mow down a crowd in 30 seconds.

I am not a fan of guns at all but a gun regulation charity is not on the top of my lists of places to donate. Too many people/animals/and too much land that needs help and those things are much easier for the general public to see and want to do something about.

And as for people voting for a candidate for one issue alone, you'd be surprised. Winston Churchill once said "The best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter". Sad but true. I was reminded of that quote during the 2004 elections when someone told me "I'm voting for Bush because I don't like Kerry's wife".

Maybe a retard like me who's living is made by selling firearms. That being said I prefer to vote for someone based on the fact that I like most of their view points but this is a very big one for me.

I couldnt have said it better. ;)

IMHO the Brady nonsense was a knee jerk reaction, and a blemish on American history.
Typical these days sadly. Example: We have all manner of arbitrary 'strike' laws as a result of
an emotional or just well publicized (Nancy Grace type horsesheit) case or event. Those laws leave no room for judging the actual circumstances or individuals accurately. Nor do they really address the actual behavior.
To me it ends up being like...
"Cute adorable 8 yr old Mary Q Public was shot & killed with a hollowed pencil dart gun. Therefore pencils shall be illegal."

As a proud member of the NRA I've got to say that owning any type of weapon is my right as a human. The bill of rights did not grant us anything, it ensured the government could not take those basics rights away from us. And Jen, a car can more easily mow down 30 people than nearly any gun but we all have them. More people die from cars every year than all guns across the globe. The problem comes that as you outlaw certain weapons only criminals have them. Each person in this country has the right to chose their hobbies as the see fit. Should we outlaw racing just because it kills people and serves no other purpose than self fullfillment? If a person wants to shoot someone they will, it's as simple as that. If they can't meet the requirement to buy a gun they will still buy one. I'm all for fully automatic weapons openly available to the public and governed like current handguns are. It's fun to go full auto on stuff and to others it's just a noisey waste of money, the same opinion many people have of what we do with our cars. Should you not be able to buy a new turbo because it will make your car fast enough that it will kill more people when not handled responsibly?
