For anyone looking for some practice time, my Local Mustang Club is hosting a open track event at Little Talladega -June 5th.( a week from Saturday) $150.00 for the full day/ $50.00 for a worker spot (work half day run the other half!). Usually get 2 hours of track time. Most of the participants are car show types and by lunch have had all of the seat time they can stand. Usually capped around 32 cars for the day. Free Lunch included! Spectators welcome. We do allow riders. All makes and models welcome. Girlfriend and I will be running our 96 Miata.
Track now also charges $5.00 a head for everyone who enters the track! But we do have a free lunch for everyone there!

tempting i was just there but i need to fix some stuff before I track it again
$50 for how much set time?
I'd hate to embarrass some Pony Drivers......:(

We need 2 more workers so I will waive the $50.00 and anyone willing to work for track time let me know. Half day working/ waiving flags = half day of track time for free! You will still have to pay the $5.00 gate fee, but we do offer a free lunch!
We run 4 groups of 8 cars in 15 minute sessions. Usually you will get around an hour ( 4 - 15 minute sessions) of track time as a worker. Maybe more depending on the groups and how many drop out.
Don't worry about embarrassing any ponies. One of the reasons we invite "other" cars is to see how we compare. Miatas definitely have an unfair advantage at Little Talladega with it's tight turns. But we have a few mustangs that can hold their own.

Yeah thats the only thing that would drive me crazy about a v8 in a miata. I would want it to be as quiet as possible. If it sounds like a V8 it takes the sleeper side away from it. Then again that 2 foot tall wing mounted to your trunk gives it away even if the motor is turned off. LOL

At the track, it's one of the quieter cars even at WOT. The magnaflow does a good job.
Hey don't diss the 3d wing - it's highly functional. (see http://www.aprperformance.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=182) At 80mph it's putting over 150lbs of downforce - much needed for the lightweight miata with so much torque. I used to swap trunk lids (one had the wing) for track days but it's moving more towards a dedicated track car (If I don't sell it in the next week or two) so the wing is now permanent as well as the fastback hardtop. Next to go is the convertable top (it weighs a ton) and in goes seats and harnesses.

That would be great. I'm trying to work out the logistics of getting the kitten to my mom's house but I can do that any day. I just wanted to bring my car (or some car that won't be on track), so I wouldn't get stuck there if it got too hot, boring, started raining, etc and I didn't have to carry my heavy *** camera gear every minute I'm there. I've been to TGP many, many times so I know it's a bit of a hike to get to much other than that one weird gas station.
I can drive over myself if she wants to get up early and ride with you but at least we'll have a car there if we need it.

it is really quiet lol my dad claims his stock gto exhaust is louder than your car.Yes it is. If you've seen the lemans commentary "truth in 24," someone made the comment that sound is energy and loud exhausts actually waste energy - commenting specifically on the r10 tdi. :p

very bad news. one of my axles literally exploded while I was on the freeway. I thought I ran over something, looked in the mirrors and didn't see anything. The boot was completely destroyed and theres grease everywhere. I exited and limped home with terrible noises in the rear.
Sorry I'll miss you guys tomorrow. Mike - we'll have to go at it another day. :(

I want to say thanks to Patrick for allowing Mike, LB and I to join you and the rest of the Mustang guys today at LTGP. Everything went very smooth. I'll definitely attend next year. Everyone was super friendly and more then willing to give an extra hand when my intercooler pipe popped off. :)
Keep us updated on the young boy that had a seizure as well. I hope it wasn't anything too serious and maybe related to dehydration?!
Anyways, here is a video that LB took during the last run of the day. It was pretty much a free for all. The WRX wagon had an STi swap and wasn't slow by any means. Mike was experiencing ignition issues even after replacing the plugs today so don't take the video as him not being able to keep up. Listen to how loud his sh*t is when it was popping.

Had a great time meeting everyone. The kid working the front gate is resting up and apparently is doing well. Supposedly he had some sort of diabetic seizure after drinking a gallon of orange juice.
My miata may not be the fastest car out there, but it definitely is one of the funnest! I'll post again if we put on another event. Jason ( Silver 66 Mustang) and I often rent the track during the week for a test and tune. I'll be sure to post for those events as well. I'm working on signing up for the NASA event in June at Road Atlanta.
