Well i am getting tired of power steering just because it gets in the dam way put a hole in one of my boost pipes i had to pull out and repair and i am just ready to get closer and closer to a track car : )

So just let me know if you have a manual rack.

I ll be pulling off my power rack so if you would like it in trade its yours

also if i pull off my power pump and lines how would i go about makeing my rack "depowerd the right way" and i assume i would need a differnt belt

Well if you swap for a manual rack, you won't have to depower your current rack obviously. No matter what you do, if you wish to retain a/c, you will need the idler/dead pulley assembly (I have one and the correct belt for sale should you need it). If you don't have a/c then you just take everything off.

If you want to depower your power rack (some people prefer the ratio), MiataRoadster.com sells a plug kit for the rack (2nd product down): http://miataroadster.com/mr.html They're currently out of stock and I'm willing to bet that a cheaper alternative could be sourced with a little work.

FM has a good walkthrough with pictures: http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/depower.php

Manual racks are hard to find and generally bring 3-4 times what a power rack does. ;)

I have a welder, a chisel, and an angle grinder. If you want to roll down to the shop, I'll help you depower your rack like I did mine.

True, but what is worth it's weight in gold is the idler pulley assembly if you have a manual rack with AC.

The funny part about that is for a while I had the hardest time finding one for cheaper than new, so I just waited. Then I had 5 of them all at once. Now I'm down to 1.

well i was going to depower mine untill i could find a good manual one there are a few on ebay that anrt so bad.

and i was planing on tradeing pump lines and all : )

i got all the tools i need at work : ) but if you were closer i would come by just to shoot the shizz and git er done

also rotor i may grab one of those dead pullys i am still in the air about getting rid of my a/c yet

but thanks for the help indeed i ama check out those links ive just heard from most that the manual rack is much nicer to deal with than the power coverting

I have a looped line rack. It's the one quadmasta did as i bought his car and I'm not against swapping our setups as I like power steering.

Depowering a rack is about an hour job. It is a lot harder swapping racks and the ratio on the depowered power rack is a little better.
YMMV
