Got tired of the lack of sound above my knees.

So i decided to add some tweeters that i had laying around in the garage but with the lack of space behind any of the panels in the car there was nowhere to mount them asthetically without ruining the door panels so here is my build thread for my speaker pods.

1. I forgot to take pics till now but bassically just mdf rings i cutout with a holesaw and flushmount tweeters, with a lil body filler.

2. I taped off the piece and mounted them where i wanted them and filled the gap with body filler.

3. I sanded the sides down and remounted them to check fitment. would have been a good idea to number them or something as it took a min to figure out which went where.

4. I painted them i did a couple coats of primer then a few coats of paint and a couple more coats of clear.

5.then they were ready to go back in.

Interesting placement. I wouldn't have thought of putting them there. How's it sound?

sounds amazing for stock 6.5s in the doors I can turn down the treble and still have plenty of highs up top and get alot more base from below. That was my main issue with the miata soundsystem since I dont have the headrest speakers I can barely hear music with the top down goin down the road. Im contemplating putting two 8's in the trunk and porting them thru the tunnel.

I molded mine in the a-pillar itself.

If you're into custom fab work there are some guys who will mount 8's (and sometimes 10's) into the metal shielding on the parcel tray behind the seats. I've seen a build thread for it and it doesn't look too hard.
