I found me my 993 GT2 but unfortunately my pockets aren't deep enough to purchase it. :(

Hmmm... wonder if the credit union would give me a loan.
I love those cars too. It's exterior styling is what makes me like the AWR flares when they aren't molded into the body. TT flat 6 makes beautiful noise too.

Tell me about it, my cousin works at Kinetic Motorsports. I went up there to have lunch with him today and peruse the shop, the owners HEAVILY modified Cayman S, Boxster S, Twin Turbo and Audi R8 were all there, as well as various customer cars and the plethora O' racing Porsches and BMWs. It was awesome...

If it was coming out of his personal funds then I'd be impressed but it's easy to write it off as a company expense.

I am pretty sure the owner is insanely wealthy, this isn't a small shop, this is a fully staffed company that builds and support race teams. Also, there is a big sign that says "No photography without express written consent of KSS Motorsports". I met the owner today, and he seemed like a nice guy, but my Cousin was working so I didn't want to bother him to ask the owner if I could take pics. But luckily, they have a nice website...

This pic doesn't begin to do the car justice though. Custom body kit and front end, etc...

P cars are cool.
Too bad so many of their owners are snobbish bastards. Not all of course. ;)
I think rather then dreaming about mega priced models one would be wise to
get an older 911 of sorts and mod it to their own tastes. In truth, a mega priced
car is never as much fun as one that is affordable..and one that can be played with, driven hard, and modded to ones own tastes. ;)
I dont think I'd even look at buying these cars if I was rich.

If I could afford to buy the car itself, I'd drive the hell out of it anyways. It's a car and it's meant to be driven.

Actually a lot of Porsche owners aren't snobs at all. And most even this one can be brutally abused at the track and driven home. Look at the GT3 for example, it will HAULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL ASSSSSSSSSSSS reliably all day long at the track.
Porsche > ALL

Having owned an older 911 for the last 10 years or so I can say that it is the most visceral feeling car I have driven. The newer models, especially from 99 on are much more touring car than sports car with the GT2 and GT3 models being exceptions.
I never really considered the Miata to be a great sports car until I drove a friend's Spec Miata at SCCA drivers school a few years ago. Although the balance of the two cars are very different the cars do have similar raw sports car feel and the 91' NA I have now with the manual steering is responsive much like the 911.
The big problem with doing mods to 911s is the cost. The "Porsche tax" makes it hard to afford if you are like me with kids in college etc.
Since my mishap with a tire wall at Barber I discovered I really can't afford to track this car and that is the reason I turned to the Miata.
I really enjoy driving it as much as the Porsche even though the performance isn't the same.
It is all about the driving experience and not the marque for me. YMMV

As for Porsche snobs yes they are out there. Usually they are the guys that we call the wine and cheese crowd. They go buy a brand new Porsche and show up at the Concour to get attention. It is all about the badge on the front of the car and not what it was built for.
Those guys never DIY. They just write a check. The good thing is they rarely drive the older models and almost never show up at the track.

Actually a lot of Porsche owners aren't snobs at all.
Those that arent are in the minority. lol....
I recently spent several hours visiting with an owner of a rather rare old Porsche.
This subject came up. This guy has owned P Cars since he was 16 and currently owns 4 or 5 really cool models, new and old, and daily drives all of them. Being a 'lifer' in the Porsche club he went on at some length about P Car owners and their ****ty snobbish attitudes...even within the P Car community. His observations were actually quite amusing.
Snobs exist in all forms of motorsport and the car hobby....even in the Miata world. A quick look around m.net will show that. :)
The P Car crowd just has an extremely high percentage of it.
The expense and nature of the P Car (especially newer ones)tends to attract the snobbish and/or attention ***** type. Same is true with Mercedes and other overly expensive marks. The perceived 'status' that comes from owning such is the issue and is often what attracts such an usually high percentage of *******s. It is what it is. ;)
Nevertheless...I would enjoy an older Porsche 911SC and would be happy to help others break with some of those 'traditions'. :D

Let's not speak of Miata.net, they told me if Mazda doesn't say it's ok in the manual, DON'T DO IT. It's a MIATA..not a FERRARI.

I agree with both Kurt and Jester on this one.
Most "snobbish" people tend to frown upon older vehicles and the fact that it's not the latest and greatest available. It's a true car enthusiasts that acknowledges a car's true heritage and understands the history of where that said vehicle comes from. I too would prefer to have an older P car before I purchased a 996 or 997 model.
My boss has an array of cool cars in his garage; 996 GT3, 997 GT3, GT500, Solstice Redline, you get my drift. By no means could I say that he is part of the "snobby" crowd. I actually met him at Chili's when I saw the type of shirt he was wearing and a P-car hat. Little did I know that he was going to offer me a job a year later.
I have driven his 997 GT3 during our SEMA trip this month and freakin-a is it a blast to drive! That car just sits under WOT and is just looking for traction. I only topped out 2nd and 3rd gear but that was enough, after all, I was doing this on the Vegas strip which is a stupid area to do it in. I just got back from dropping something off at his house and he told me to drive the GT500 back. The supercharger sounds like pure sex and I can't believe how tall 2nd gear is; tops out pretty close to 80.

Actually..having owned Corvettes I can say those guys arent 'all that' either! haha...
Know the difference between Corvette owners and Viper owners?
Viper owners wives/GF's generally have larger fake breasts. ;) lol...

Okay so here is the Porsche joke of the day.
A blonde woman is driving a Porsche. She sees
another blonde woman with a Porsche that has
broken down on the side of the road. She stops to
ask what’s wrong. The owner of the broken Porsche
said, ‘I just had a look under the hood, well,
while I was driving somebody had stolen the
engine.’
The other said, ‘Oh, don’t worry, I have a spare
one in the back of my Porsche.
