I'm not into the whole RHD thing, I think they're cool and different, but I won't completely freak out over a RHD car like some will. I converted my '91 RX7 to RHD after getting a TII front clip from Japan for the engine/turbo/trans and it was sometimes a pain in the ***.

That being said, I've been doing some preliminary searching for a new car and I happened to find this for sale, only has 18,000 miles and it's legally registered. Although at $25k it's somewhat out of my price range. But it's the only Nissan S1x chassis I'd ever own, I love the body design more than anything. The engine bay is nice too.

Good looking car. Not worth that kind of $$ IMHO but a very nice car.
I like right hand drive cars...but not as much in terms of Japanese cars, although
one day I might own a right hand drive Miata, just because I am into Miatas.
Generally though I like it in a British car.
My current 'wish' is for a RHD 80's Capri Laser or 2.8 from Britain.

When he refers to legally registered, does he mean he has a state title for it or is it federal legal? That has a big impact on the price. If it's federal legal then it's worth the money. I have come across a few that are just as nice for a few thousand cheaper though.

Should have clarified, it's federally legal for all 50 states.

ME likey... price IS a little steep but with only 18,000 and its 50 states legal.. its worth the $$ you would basically pay that for a car in that condition if it rolled onto a nissan lot in the states... i remember the skyline they had a nissan in gwinett had somethign cluse to 50-60,000 miles and it was a peace of **** they were still wanting some outragious price $30,000 or somewhere on those lines...

i used to talk alot with this company online who imports vehicles form all over and there legal the minute they touch US soil. and if i remember rite they were pretty good on price... ill see if i can find them.

lol If I got it, I'd let you, but there's not a chance of that happening. Too expensive for my goals.

Mine too. The Japanese section of my dream garage has one of these and a Spirit R in it, amongst others.

RHD is cool, but to me that car is just a fancy 240

No its not, its quite an impossibility for it to be so. I won't go into the details but no SR20DET has ever been EPA or CARB approved so its never going to be legal in Cali. I've been down the importation legal road numerous times dealing with the blue S15 that used to be a shop car for my shop and quite a few GTR's. The S15 for sale now as well but it won't go for less than $33k. Its got quite a bit more modifications and is 49 state legal and is already registered in Ga as a Nissan Silvia. They're fun cars but I will tell you that there are a lot of issues that get annoying when you drive RHD cars all the time, most you won't think about till you do so.

That CCR blue S15 is amazingly beautiful.

I have been tempted to buy one before but I do think of the hassles of having it as, most likely, an only car. They are just such good looking cars, I can't help but lust after one. No clue how financing would would on that though. I can just see the loan officer... "A what?" lol

Good point Jenn! Unless you're baller enough to throw down $25k and either DD that car or have another car to drive while that thing is your toy, you'll need a loan. Good luck on that, Silvia what...who?? Sorry we don't finance mail order brides...

Don't get me wrong I'd love to have it too, but that's the problem with dream cars, you start applying any sort of practical thinking and they become impractical fast. RHD I think would be cool, for maybe a week, then the novelty would wear off.

Last summer I came across an R32 GTR I really wanted but it was only state legal and at that time, the government was cracking down hard on non-federal legalized cars so I decided to pass. Anyways, during that process I had applied for an auto loan via my credit union and to my disbelief, they were actually familiar with the car. Same goes for my insurance company at the time, USAA.

I didn't know you did this. Do you have any pictures? I'm curious as to how it turned out. :)

That's cool. Wonder if Georgia's Own would have a clue.

I think the hassle depends a lot on your lifestyle and how much you like the car though. I had a friend in high school who drove an old mail truck that was RHD and everyone just thought it was really funny. But that was high school, not real grown up life.

No its not, its quite an impossibility for it to be so. . . .

Sorry, just going off what the seller stated in the ad. I guess that means it's 49-state legal as long as his federal claims are true.

Yeah, somewhere in the basement is 6 or 7 boxes of photos. In one of those boxes are pictures of all my RX7s. Aside for some welding and cutting marks, it looked just like it's Japanese counterpart.

For my money, I'd rather have an FD with a LS swap... or a three-rotor.

I saw that. Its likely worth 5k if its really as immaculate as they say.
Its rather rare in the USA if its the real deal and not a 'swap'.
However, wait 4 more years and you'll be able to import then legally. ;)

The Silvia is a beautiful car, and probably worth the cash, but I agree driving right hand drive gets old FAST.

Ummm, Do-Luck kit that costs more than my car, yeah Sparco seats don't scream VIP look, but judging from the forum it's out of I'd say they're into "go" as well as "show". So it's a toss up on what he's going for.

Yep, they like GO and DRIFT, check the widebody Soarer in above pictures drifting, oh and some Miata drifting for good measure.

meh, i can see the performance aspect but its only saved by the kit itself. he doesnt have the knot hanging from the rear view so you cant call him on VIP anyway...

wildfire0310
01-22-2010, 08:55 AM
The soarer is not really VIP. Think of it as a different bodyed mk3 supra, cause well it is.

The oldschool Rx3 would be a sweet DD. Updated the motor to a newer 13B or 13b-Rew.

That was actually a pretty entertaining video. I think the Corrolla driver was probably the best out of the bunch.
