I like the tie Joe to the chair idea... I've dropped thousands ay RSpeed and never met the guy...it would be nice.

Ripley..you could always throw my old engine and trans into the red car. Unless you already sold the steering wheel...or the wheels...or...

An open house is a great way to get more business.

I thought they already hinted that they were having one?

An open house is a great way to get more business.

In the old days that was probably true.
I think at this point, in the case of RSpeed, its likely more hassle then anything.
But, I am hoping they will do it again. I will even volunteer my time to help if needed.

ive volunteered before and talked to joe and hector about it. There just isnt enough money into it.

Back then there was a lot of inventory in the store and people BOUGHT stuff. Lots of cool things from Japan. While they still have quite a bit of inventory and can get pretty much whatever you need in your miata, it seems like open house would just be one big hang out.

Back then, we had Randy talk about the miatas, some guy played the guitar and food. It was fun, informative and people bought stuff. Now miatas are heavily modded, there are a lot of vendors... The Internet happened. And when we hear Kurt getting low balled for a used part when they guy is just trying to make a living, why would rspeed do this?

I understand that not everyone is like that but the majority is. Im gonna say it, there are more idiot miata owners now than ever and if I was them I would not do it. I drive one cuz i love it and it is affordable but sometimes I wish it wasnt as affordable as it is. I would just invited a few friends with miatas and hang out.

If Rspeed does do this, I personally would love it. If they don't I can understand.

My thoughts exactly.
But we can still wish for the old days, and the fun....

I agree but its not just miata its any affordable sports car. Too many people think they know about their car, know how to drive their car, and that street racing is a good idea. I see it all day long while i am working and everytime i am at a car show with my father in law it seems like half of the guys there are just trying to see who really knows more about the cars.

I agree with the open house but it might be a hassle, but good pictures of local customers the more the merrier would be great for promoting rspeed.

The thing is, I dont think RSpeed needs "promoting" at this point in that sense.
At this point is mostly just an expense for them to do it.
Unlike a few of us gathering in Mazmart's parking lot etc, the official open house at RSpeed requires the cooperation of many vendors not associated with or benefited by such a gathering, the clearing of what is a public parking area for multiple business, porta potty rental, food, help plus the costs of doing so, etc etc Its quite a massive undertaking to gather 200-300 Miatas and their owners and friends together..
I think thats why it has ceased to happen. ;)

Note: Keep in mind, these are my thoughts and I dont speak on behalf of RSpeed.

Anyone know of a giant empty parking lot or something so we can just get together, grill out or something, and shoot the breeze? MX5atl BBQ!

A Sunday BBQ would be fun. I don't know of any parking lots but there are plenty of parks where we could probably get away with it.

Yes, there are probably parks all over. One that I am familiar with is
http://gwinnettparklife.com/parks/little-mulberry-park/

900 acres, grills, fishing in a stocked pond (bring a rod), ample parking in several lots, lots of trails both paved and not, hiking trail up the mountain w scenic overlook, bicycle friendly, athletic fields, equestrian area you can look at horses, etc etc etc. Really nice park.

Ben are you proposing we go for a romantic hike to a scenic overlook then horseback riding?

I'm touched

ben91

Not in the least.

Forgot to mention that the park is also dog friendly if you want to bring your 4-legged little buddy.

Im digging this idea, except for the long walks and what not, i mean people are already gonna assume its a gay pride parade with miatas everywhere, we dont need to add fuel to that fire

There's also baseball fields if we want to do that.

It's entirely up to you if you want to participate in any of those activities in drag.

Back when Joe was more active at Rspeed. I asked about another open house, and you almost quoted Joe word for word there.
