I read that it'll have a 2.5L instead of the 2.3, with about 10 more hp. I've a big fan of them since they came out (we had an 04 hatch, and we have an 08 Mazdaspeed3 now). Awesome cars. Hell, the MS3 is fast as hell and gets around 24/30mpg. Even with 4 people in it and a bunch of luggage, we still got 30mpg on the highway.
Hopefully they'll make a Mazdaspeed version of this new one, too.

actually hopefully they'll bring over europe's 2.0 turbo diesel version that's both faster and gets significantly better economy than the mazdaspeed 2.3 turbo gas engine.

I actually debated for about 10 minutes when I was trading in the WRX for the miata on the MS3. I still think an FI NC and an MS3 would be one hell of a nice garage to have at home....

A 2.0L turbo diesel that makes more the 260hp and 280ft-lbs? Got links?

Unfortunatly I don't there will be a factory boosted NC even with GM having the new Solstice Coupe rated at 300hp because GM has the price on the Sky/Solstice set waaaaay too high.

A 2.0L turbo diesel that makes more the 260hp and 280ft-lbs? Got links?I'm sorry I meant 2.2 turbo diesel. It's the "speed3" that the rest of the world is getting. It will make more torque than our gas 2.3, don't know about the hp number. It is also quicker and said to deliver 40 mpg.
You can probably google info on it, or wait until it's officially released.

185hp, 400ft-lbs! That's a lotta torque.

The Speed3 is already hotlapping in Germany. I just wish they would come out with an AWD model. I have serious issues with FWD vehicles, even as good as they are today....

I agree that most FWD cars are really limited, but there are several exceptions. The Integra Type-R, SE-R Spec V, and Mazdaspeed3 all come to mind. The main thing they have going for them is a really good suspension setup and a mechanical LSD. I don't think they're necessarily as fun as RWD cars, but they can be REALLY quick on a race track.
As great as AWD is on paper, it gets worse mpg, has more rotating mass, and eats through clutches way faster than either RWD or FWD. Then again, I don't ever have to deal with snow.
