He's selling everything boost related oddly enough. But it could potentially be a good deal. I need to tell Drew about this.

Not so fast. I'll contact them on Monday. I'm not sure which way I'm going yet.

I went ahead and bought this, we'll see how much it costs to rebuild. I really need a good piggyback to manage this. I've driven 200 miles since re-installing my stock ecu and the computer is still not ready to test. Hence my frustration with standalone ecus and wanting a piggy.

I don't know what you're doing, but my car had all readiness monitors except 2 (evap emissions and cat) ready within 7 miles of a reset. 2 not readies will pass. On the way to the emissions station, the cat monitor cleared. Evap emissions takes at least 24 hours and 2 full cold to hot drive cycles.

If you're really serious about making power, then you'll dump piggies and superchargers, and get either a turbo or a v8.

Gee, what am I doing wrong? Hmmm I'm driving the car. Do you know how to do that better than everyone else too? Unless you actually have something useful to say, I think you really just need to sit this one out fella. As far as turbos and V8 goes, the miata is a toy for me, I don't want to drop 30k into a toy. I like superchargers. Deal with it.

Congrats on the new charger. If this works out and you decide to unload the old charger keep me in mind. I know we discussed possible issues with the mounting brackets but it looks like I can get new brackets and everything. So...

are you driving highway miles? majority of readiness needs to be done in closed loop (< 3-4k rpm iirc).

That sounded like a bunch of useful info, from someone who's BTDT, from someone who's owned more than a half dozen miatas over the last decade, from soemone who's tried a lot of different FI and EM set ups. Prefer to not want help? That's fine. My car went through emissions, so I'm good.

Majority highway miles. Do I need to just drive around the neighborhood for a while?

which monitor(s) are not set? there is a specific procedure for each.

i do emissions jobs all the time & Ben is right... you have to make sure once you start it you dont cut it off( not even for a sec) before operating temp is reached and so many miles are driven...or you have to let it cool completely and try again. i would always forget at the gas station... that applies to catylst & evap and their usually the last

Well I'm waiting on catalyst. If I could get that one, I can test. I ran it for 10 miles, had lunch for 45, drove 6 miles, let it sit for half an hour , drove 4 miles to test center... not ready. Someone give me a sure fire way to get the car to get catalyst ready, I'm goin nuts. This has been 2 weeks and 300 miles of driving around. I have no cels or codes, the sucker just says not ready.

To get cat to pass, car has to be at full operating temp and sustain moderate speed highway cruise in top gear for a few minutes. Steady 55 or 60 mph should do it. This is actually one of the easier ones to set, and it typically will set EGR and o2 at the same time.

But there is no reason to wait for only 1 monitor. You can pass with up to 2 not readies, as long as you have no pending or active CEL codes. (I've said this before)

Sounds like the testing center won't let him test with the not ready status...

It's not up to them. 96-00 up to 2 not readies will pass, as long as there are no codes pending are set.
They could get into trouble with the state clean air board.

I'm not arguing that point Ben, I was just pointing out the way it sounded.
