I'm bored and feel like doing a survey. Ive been on the fence about cutting the beard, its taken me a year to get it this long, but im starting to get tired of it. So, let the opinions/voting begin! Should I cut it, or keep it? Attached are pictures of then and now...

HA, possibly...a girls perspective would be nice also. Ladies, lets hear it, you can be honest. Crazy beard or trimmed beard? Cleanly shaved makes me look 12, so thats a no

Haha coming from a girl's perspective, I can't say I'd be wanting to be all cuddly with that huge beard :P

Sorry, but I agree with Bridgitte. Facial hair burn doesn't feel very good! :(

There's no burn with a beard that long, unless you set it on fire.

You need to ask yourself, "Does the beast want to come out of the bushes?" It does seem a shame to cut all that off. Maybe check back next summer on the first hot day?

You need to ask yourself, "Does the beast want to come out of the bushes?"
 I guess the real question should be "is everyone ready for the beast to come out of the bushes?"

the percentage of women that you will attract could rise by an estimated 20-40%, results may vary. other than that your life would probably remain un changed. if you want a life altering change have your genitals waxed. the pain is very temporary and thats about the only drawback. it will make you look younger as well.
i mean if i was to eat, lets say a chicken, id prefer one with plucked feathers. not that i think that any plucked chicken is good for consumption but a good, clean, healthy, well maintained, of age, chicken should be eaten. chickens always satisfy when you're good to them.

^True story.
Alright, Lets get these votes started. Yay for trimming the beard, or Nay for keeping it.
Sawyer and Lazybones, im assuming you two are saying to trim it?....or tame it I guess would be more appropriate.

I think that most women do not care for facial hair. Its a guy thing.
Take that for what its worth.
Sawyer
12-01-2009, 06:37 AM
Yeah I vote for tame it. You don't have to cut it all the way off, what you have in the first picture is fine.
You definitely get some points for dedication for growing that for so long though!

Tame for sure. Or umm..you could go with Sam's idea.... hahahahaha

On the other hand, a peach without a little fuzz on it might seem not mature enough or ready to be picked or eaten.

Beards are good for: dudes in bands, staying warm, Alaska, hippies, amish
Beards are bad for: picking up chicks, professionalism
My vote is to get a hedgetrimmer and go to work. Of course, if you are young and in school or in a job where they don't frown upon that kind of thing, maybe you want to keep it. Now that I'm oppressed by corporate America, I'm glad I took full advantage of my youth to pierce my nose, dye my hair green, and dress in all black.

Truly I really loved the picture of your beard blowing in the wind, as you drive your Miata. The full beard is the most impressive of all beard styles, that being said, it really should be kept neatly trimmed unless your BFF is a gentle grizzly bear,or you spend time making bombs to kill wealthy industrialists. And 1968 called, they want the ponytail back. Get your beard and hair cut by a proffesional and they will make you look more mature and thinner. That's one of the great things about a well trimmed beard, it can actually change the shape of your face. I will now return to my own generation, carry on you young people.

Good stuff. RIP beard.
Since I started growing mine in the beginning of 07, I've kept it trimmed so that I don't look Taliban. Now that I see pictures of real Taliban dudes everyday, I'm really glad I've been trimming it!
HOWEVER, I've been thinking about doing a 6-month deployment...and in that case, I'll definitely let the beard grow!

Ok everyone, I shaved my face. This is the first time I have shaved in over a year and a half......
Before
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4067/4349166083_6db1ccb99f.jpg
And after
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4001/4561723406_f11904f47d.jpg
I shaved for two reasons.
1. To see if I could remember how to shave
2. To remind myself why I don't shave.
Needless to say, I will be growing it back. I hate not having a beard. I look 12.

I have had a beard in some form ever since HS....for the most part, although I went clean shaven for a while. For a long time I did the full beard thing, but trimmed.
I grew it out longer but looked Amish.
I shaved it off once and tried just a mustache. Looked like a dork.
Tried a soul patch. More dork, only gangsta dork. My kids didnt know me without facial hair.
Add I hate shaving, plus my wife *****ing about not liking the 'shadow' or the 'scratchy' feeling...and the fact she loves beards...equals I am stuck with some beard-like thing forever.
When I end up bald I will shave my head and grow a Col Sanders goatee in white. :D

I cut off the beard every Feb or so but during winter I have to keep it for a little while. Although I honestly havent shaved since December of 07.
Seriously though, grow that **** back out. It's one of your defining things.

Yeah, there are many good reasons to grow a beard. Especially when you've been forced to shave every day for 8 years.
