Operation Secret Santa

This worked well last year and I'm already in the Christmas mood (thank you bad weather and pictures of London :lol:). So let's get the sign up list started. And for anyone who's not familiar with this, you spend about $20 (or whatever you can) on a gift for someone who's name you're given from the list and then it's given to them. You don't know what you'll receive and who it's from. It's all in good fun!

If you'd like to participate and plan on being out of town (or think you might be) at any point in time during the Christmas holiday, please post when that might be so we can plan the dinner/get together as well as possible to maximize attendance.

Just like last year, we'll leave this sign-up list open probably until the first week of December, then it will close and I'll use my random name/number generator to assign numbers to the people participating. After that, each person will pick a number and will be privately told who they have chosen. Please don't sign up if you can't commit, it would suck for someone to buy a gift and then not get anything.

We had it at the Mellow Mushroom near Lenox last year on a Saturday evening. We try to make it as schedule friendly as possible.

Unknown until we know who is participating and when they are available, proabably another Saturday evening, the 19th is the weekend before Christmas, but I bet people start traveling then. Maybe the 12th? It's open for discussion.

If you can't be there for the meet you can use a flat rate USPS mail box I suppose :)

I'm not worried about the date, more the actual time it would take place. I work nights/weekends and have to be there at 11:00pm. So I'd hate to go to this if it started like at 8:00pm on the southside or way away from my work, lol.

I think the Mellow Mushroom at Brookhaven was about perfect (near Lenox Mall for anyone wondering) for everyone last year, just about in the middle of the map. Would be fun again, great environment and the staff was nice enough to put us in our own corner. :lol:

Not yet. Doesn't appear anyone who has signed up has any date/time constraints either.

I think I'll close this sign up thread on Monday night, November 30 so that there's time to shop. I'm thinking the 12th might be the best dinner night so it's not too close to Christmas traveling.

Late afternoon/evening time is what we did last time and it seemed to work pretty well.

Also thought it would be worth noting that you need to mark your wrapped/bagged gift with the recipient's name only. Ruins the Secret part if they know who it's coming from. Well, except for me, I'll know who picked my number. :lol:
