Anyone know how to prevent lifting a front wheel under hard cornering? Not sure what to start adjusting...lol.

Do you have a bigger front sway bar?

I freakin hope so. Stiffer springs will help (Ie, prevent the other side going low enough to lift the inside tire), as will shocks with more droop travel. I don't think that's the issue though.

To be honest, I've never seen a miata lift the inside front... even w/ stock springs, a big front sway and R-comps... what setup are you running???

Tein springs, AGX shocks, Flyin Miata front bar, stock rear, ALL metal bushings, seam welded chassis, strut bar, bout it.I was messing with alignment today and test drove it and it lifts a wheel now...I COULD just put my settings where they were but the car feels better now except the lifting issue lol

Yep. Better (*cough* real *cough*) springs, better shocks. I'm not sure how much impact seam welding the chassis had on rigidity, but it may have been enough.

Yeah I don't like Teins I am ordering GC's and Konis soon. But like I said this only happened AFTER playing with alignment.

not enough droop...get a better suspension with better travel.

I'd stay away from the GC stuff. It's just too expensive for what you get. Used 2.5" springs can be had for peanuts in a number of places, and you can get sleeves that'll do the trick off of ebay for <$10. Alternately, you can do what I did and get Koni's threaded sleeves for their shocks. MUCH nicer pieces than the GCs, and cheaper, and you can run 2.25" springs (more lighter). Again, used 2.25" springs can be had cheaply on various sites / from race shops.

Another option is to order springs from Hyperco. They come to be about $240 for a full set of for iirc (I want to say last I checked they were $59 a spring).

Where have you been picking up these used springs andrew? I dropped the cash on gc's before, I didn't like them but that was due to a ****ty setup. Having said that, $400+ for some springs and sleeves is too much.

I agree with that last statement.. It's been over 2 years since I shopped for springs, so I'd have to do my hunting again. I had a buddy @ Tri-Point motorsports hunt down some good stuff for me, so I may get back in touch w/ him to see where he was looking. I guarantee if you post a WTB on SCCAForums with the specs of the springs you want (Interior Diameter x Free Length, Spring rate), you'd get a ton of offers.

Really? Well I guess when I feel the need to stiffen up my setup I'll check that out. Admittedly I would like it to be stiffer already but then I'ld have to get Koni's too. My current setup is well matched, just not a stiff combo

hmmm I could always get the Bilsteins re-valved by FatCat though to match the springs, it would just lack adjustability which isn't the end of the world. I prefer well matched shocks/springs to adjusting

Before throwing parts at the car, maybe you should try adjusting what you have. Since the problem is a result of adjustment, it seems obvious that it's an issue that can be fixed with adjustment.

For instance, try to figure out WHY it's happening. It seems to me that the rear of the car is squatting more than it should. So maybe increasing the dampening in the rear would prevent that. Maybe even reducing the dampening up front would allow the springs to do their job and keep the tire planted.

Maybe the front sway bar is set too hard (if in fact, it's adjustable). If you can soften that up, I'd try that as well.

I don't think there is such a thing for a miata :wtf:

I'm not throwing parts on the car, it's lifting a wheel from something I did with the alignment lol. And only under hard cornering.

I'm going to play with it more tom.

Oh really? What did you do? Chances are you just increased the grip on those outside tires, and now you're having 'problems' (again, I really don't see it as a problem...)

I guess it's not really a problem lol. But I can feel it.

I adjusted camber and toe (which effect eachother when done seperate anyway) but....

more grip + floppy springs will do that.

Well, if it was set too soft, then that would allow for greater weight transfer to the outside. So having it set as hard as possible would make the car corner flat.

Do you have adj. endlinks? Could try tightening them up. But in the long run, it might not be a bad thing to lift a wheel becaue it just means you're putting that much more weight on it causing it to have more grip. Hell, a lot of race cars lift wheels....
