How is that holding up Kurt?

Its standing in the corner of the garage...so its 'holding up' well at this point. :D I regard it as something cheap and cool looking to get the car on the road...we'll worry about details later as they arise.

Who DOESN'T want a supercharger? Actually, I'd rather go turbo.

Regardless, welcome.

Dang boy, I don't think I'd ask him about his "hole thing".

Perhaps you mean the whole thing?

You can't have a supercharge yet anyway. Our insurance can't handle it. Or more truthfully, I won't pay the additional cost. And I don't want to have to explain to your mother why you wrapped the car around the tree.

And you do not have to report engine modifications to the insurance company. If the VIN reports as a n/a vehicle from the factory, you get n/a insurance rates. If your vehicle's VIN reports as high-performance, turbo, supercharged, etc. from the factory, then you have higher rates/premiums. ;)

Oh good, I'll snag it and put it on my car.......................thanks.

As far as reporting to the insurance co., no you don't have to, you can mislead them on the annual or bi-annual questionaire. Then hope you never wreck and make a claim, and the adjustor sees it, checks your policy, then bye bye policy. That might be ok if you are 17, or 21, with one car and no assets for someone to sieze and don't care, but when you have six cars on the policy, and four drivers, then it matters. Oh to be young and foolish again. Or at least young.

A buddy of mine w/ a turbo'd Protege5 recently had a wreck w/ a pot-hole (no construction signs, not covered, etc). He basically just fell into this huge hole, mangled his down pipe, and destroyed his AWR oil pan. Anyway, it was the county's / DMV's / contractor's fault. He took pics and got a police report. The insurance company paid for the aftermarket parts, and even went after the county to refund his deductible. So Georgia_Cracker's not 100% correct. Then again, it probably depends on the company, the adjuster you get, and the nature of the accident.

Yeah, I was going to say it's never mattered with either of the agencies I've had. My Saturn was turbo'd when it got totaled, my agent looked at it and said, Wow, never seen so much done to a Saturn, is it fast? That was it. If it didn't come that way from the factory, they've never cared. Only questionaire I get is to report usage and mileage.

That's good to hear. Perhaps the insurance companies have changed, maybe a little more lenient. The questionaire I got last year asked pretty specific questions, even asked about a roll bar and suspension mods. Fortunately they asked that before my son did all that to his car. Now it's time for my cars.
