water in trunk

i've got a couple of gallons of water sitting in my trunk probably from all the rain we have had and i'm wondering why.

you have leaves and debris around your trunk seals?

cracked rain rail and/or clogged drain holes.

i had that but i dont think that went in the trunk, that just went straight down the back of the seat to the floor.

Bad rain rail, they crack after a number of years, particularly if they spent a lot of time outside parked. The constant heating and cooling cracks the plastic. The rain rail can be bought seperately at R Speed for like $100 and is easy to chgange out. If you need a whole new top, try to get one from Miatastuff or Metalman on the frame. This will include the rain rail as well and is easily changed in a garage in a couple of hours.

i had a pretty beat up rainrail but never water in the trunk.

I just found some water in my trunk after the rain. It was coming in from behind the driver's side taillight. I'm gonna have to reseal that too. But rain rail and bad trunk seals can cause this.

I had gallons in my trunk once, and what happened was the drain tube that drains water out from around my gas cap came off the end of the drain, so it was draining straight into my trunk instead of draining out under the trunk.
