I had a cone filter on my intake and after reading and getting opinions I put my stock intake back on. Feels like I gained a good bit in low to mid range, though I lost a bit up top. I'll prob get uptop back when I put in a K&N filter. Car also seems to be running better over all. Just wanted to state my opinion on the matter if you were thinking about going cone filter on stock intake.

i just put my stock intake back on too. it definitely feels zippier. maybe cause its quieter and it feels like the engine isnt working as hard...since its quieter.

I do kinda miss the sound but some sound will come back iwht the k&n filter too. I mean...techincally it is a "CAI" as it sucks air from more toward the corner.

if you take out that little tube from the airbox that routes air from behind the headlight it makes a little more noise but **** man i got tired of it. it makes you drive faster i think. i just listen to that sexhaust.

Building a good box for a cone-type filter and having TSi's FTW. Had that on my 96 and intake temps were always ambient. Hell, I could go out and romp on the car, pull over, open the hood and put my hand on the intake manifold and it wouldn't be hot at all.

IMm not sure what your car is but. I lost torque on my 99 when I put the rspeed intake but gained a lot up top. So to compensate and I think this is why Casey thought my car pulled hard is that I put an NB2 Crossover pipe. NB2 Crossover pipe has the reserve bin added on.

I have an NA. But scotty, pulling off the tube would put the intake point closer to the header and you would lose some of the "CAI" efficiency no? I was just gonna leave it stock and put in K&N filter.
