I was in Nashville last weekend for a two day track event at Nashville Super Speedway. I took some video using the GoPro on each run, but have only had a chance to upload one.

The weekend started off a little rough - on the way to the track, my downpipe flange cracked off completely where it meets the catalytic converter. I figured I was hosed, but one of the other guys at the track steered me to a shop nearby that had me welded up and ready to go in less than an hour. I only missed one run group!

The weather looked sinister all weekend - at any time it looked like the skies were going to open up and pour within the next 5 minutes, but it never happened. We had some light drizzle/mist a couple of times, but that was it.

This group divides all of the drivers/cars into three groups: novice, intermediate, and expert. I run in the expert group, which usually has some pretty insane cars (I'll post pics of and a story about my ridealong in a 350rwhp insane turbo Miata later), but I held my own. Out of the whole weekend, I only got passed by a few cars: three Porsches (a 996 turbo, a supercharged 993, and my bro's 993) and a Factory Five Cobra racecar.

In the video below, I chase down and pass a yellow Z06 within the first lap, then spend some time tailing my brother in his beautiful silver 993. We pass a few other cars, and at the end (~7:00) I pass a white Cayman and a black 996 Turbo. Not a bad way to spend the weekend...there were tons of awesome cars there!

I ran Toyo RA1s for the first time at this event - great tires, I was totally impressed with their grip. They seem a bit more durable than the Kumhos/Hoosiers. I can probably get one more track day out of them, but then I'll need to find another set of used 225/50/15s. Let me know if anyone has a lead!

On another topic, does anybody know of any free video editing software that works well? I'm using Windows Moviemaker to segment these into clips, but it seems to degrade the quality.

Sounds like a ton of fun! Can't see the vid at work, but I'll be sure to check it out later.

As far as video editing, I've never had a problem with WMM degrading the quality, but streetfire and youtube both have issues losing quality over the original, even in their "HD" mode.

First of all, nice driving and it looks like you and your car are damn fast on the track.

As far as the video loss, any free editor will give you the same problems, you get what you pay for...

That being said, it is a combination of the editing software, ingest and export of the video, and the upload to the website. Since you are on a PC, I recommend Sony Vegas
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiohd

It's $40 and is a good consumer editor.

For $80 you can get the platinum edition
http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiope

It will offer a lot more options for editing and for export.

FYI, I have been in video production for over 11yrs.

Nice driving Nick. I agree about the RA1s. I have many track days on them and they get better and better all the way to the cords.

Thanks for the advice...sounds like you certainly know your stuff! I read some good reviews of the Sony software, so I'll probably pick that up. Thanks again!
