I need a steel sensor bung welded to a mild steel pipe. Small bung, like the size of your thumb. Pretty simple.
I can do it, but my welds are very ugly, and it will be visible when you open the hood. And this is a very nice compound mandrel bent and powdercoated pipe with beautiful welds by Bell.
Anyone help out?

If you TIG on a powder coated pipe it will burn the powder coating off of a surrounding area.Just a thought,if it helps

You will have to recoat the entire pipe or drill & epoxy the part.

David suggested I hit it with some gun blue in the affected area. I think I'll do that. One day I want to get the pipes ceramic coated. I know it's very little gain, but I saw a picture of a BEGi car with the pipes coated and it looked so damn baller.
Just as a side note. After I drilled the pipe for the sensor, I hit it on the grinder on the fine wheel for a couple of seconds. The idea was to take just a teencie bit of material off the edge of the radius to flatten it out some, make the bung fit a bit more square on the pipe so there would be less gap to fill in with weld.
David of course had the bright idea to slightly radius the inside of the bung. DUH! It took him a minute to do on his bench grinder. Had I thought of it, I'd have done it.
